Bug Reports / Beta13 - output plugin - ECU status
January 20, 2018, 05:12:09 PM
Hi Pib,
I find very weird readings of the Engine Brake bit when the engine brake is set to 3 (its max) on the murasama.
The bit is at 1 (so EB doing something) even when I'm on the gas, weird !
Setting EB at 2 seems to give a more reasonable behavior.

TC bit works fine, AW bit too (even if the AW itself is just horrible on high levels: it fires even while leaning a lot ...).

Off Topic / eDucati
November 29, 2017, 01:24:31 PM
In french:

http://www.motorevue.com/rubriques/electrique/des-ducati-electriques-dici-2030/1777960

Google-translated (I'm lazy):

QuoteDucati will have a full range of electric motorcycles within a dozen years. It is not Claudio Domenicali, the boss of the Reds, who says it, but Matthias Muller, the president of the Volkswagen group.

At the end of October, during a press conference entitled Roadmap E (translate: "Roadmap for mobile electricity"), the latter has indeed indicated that all brands of the group, Volkswagen to Audi, in through Lamborghini, Skoda, Bugatti and Ducati, will offer an electric vehicle within twelve years in each segment of their range. In the case of Ducati, this means an electric roadster, an electric sports car, an electric trail, etc. Asked about the issue, Domenicali confirmed Volkswagen's perspective, while insisting that the time was now for V4, and that the ducatists should savor this moment and "enjoy life". An advice that sounds almost like a funeral oration for the thermal. That said, the funeral is not for tomorrow and twelve years is long. Who knows who will own Ducati in 2030?

Support / New mods folder - question
August 24, 2017, 07:44:10 PM
What is exactly searched in the new mods folder ?

It seems to me that the content of folders bikes, tracks and rider can be "relocated" to the new folder, but not  the plugins folder (which may be intentional) nor the misc folder (mostly used for the bike stands).

Custom hardware / EDTracker wireless is out

69 GBP though ... a bit steep.

My wired EdTracker Pro works very fine, if the wireless is just as good (actually, there are some improvements) and is without the wire (which seems to be the case), then ...

Wondering how it will work with an ultra-wide screen (21:9 or even 32:9).

Another suggestion that can help a lot new players: when a new version of a mod bike has physics changes, sometimes the old setup files cause a crash when loaded.

Also, even being aware that you must delete all setup files for a given bike, this is a bit of a pain because of the way the setup files are organised (folder structure is per track, per bike): it gets extremely annoying when you have an entire bike set (multiple bikes) and 100+ tracks.

Ideal solution: put some sort of versioning in the bikes and their setup files (old setup on new bike --> avoid loading and show pop up warning).

Half-baked solution: change the setup files folder structure to "bike/track" (instead of "track/bike").

General Discussion / Skydome banding ?
April 13, 2017, 08:37:08 PM
Hi all,
just wondering, am I the only one seeing some very nasty banding in the skydome of most tracks ?
Victoria, Nurburgring, Suzuka  ... they all seem to have a very ugly looking sky (banding, you can see some sort of circular color gradation):

Recently I started to experience troubles in loading large tracks (Fuji, Nord_NDS, Nurburgring GP), GPB was simply crashing while loading the track. In some cases, lowering the replay buffer (I usually have it at 512) did help. That was a big hint that the issue was in RAM memory allocation.

Today I gave a try to the Large Address Aware stuff (LAA) and all the issues went away.

I can load any track, with any graphics setting. I can also load a track, go back to main menu and pick another track, go to track, back to menu, and pick another track ... no crash.
In some cases I've seen a total RAM usage above 4GB (total, not GPB only, for GPB only I think I've seen a max of 1.something GB).

What is a bit surprising (but it may be normal) is that after doing the LAA change, I can still join an online server.

P.S.
The issue I had was clearly not tied to GPU RAM: somebody speculated that that may be the case (I have a GTX 970, with its well know 3.5/4GB problem) but I'm positive it isn't.
I can run tracks requesting more than 3.5GB of GPU RAM fine: I've already seen a peak usage of 3.8GB without any issue (had to use DSR @ 4K resolution with maxed out settings for that ... still managed some 50fps :) ).

I'm pondering buying a 21:9 monitor, but no matter the (high) price, the options available at the moment are not 100% satisfactory (Asus PG348Q, Acer X34 / X24P to come, AOC AG352UCG, HP Omen X35).

Then I've stumbled on a news announcing that Samsung will soon produce panels with 32:9 aspect ratio (that's exactly 2 16:9 screens side to side), 3840x1080 resolution (double of usual FHD) and 49 inches diagonal (roughly like 2 27 inches panels). VA panel, 144Hz, both GSync anf FreeSync versions. It's a bit low on PPI (just like a 27" on 1080p) but ...

@PiBoSo:

You may have read that some of us are experiencing problems with some recent tracks (Manu's Fuji, h106frp's Nordschleife, see links below).
These tracks are rather big in terms of (disk) size.

Would it be possible to have some very basic logging (by default or, eventually, optional) so that GPB writes out to a .log the various steps it runs through at startup and when going to track ?
That would at least allow to know roughly at which step GPB crashes in such cases (of course it won't help in crashes while on track).

Something like:
Starting up GPB
Loading init files ... done !
Loading basic assets ... done !
Initializing sound engine .... done !
Loading bike ... done !
Loading bike skin ... done !
Loading helmet ... done !
...

Going to track:
Loading track "Victoria" ...
Loading .map ... done !
Loading .trp ... done !

And so on.

Bug Reports / 2 minor bugs
March 10, 2017, 07:39:48 PM
1. First time I select a bike (e.g. a mod bike just installed), the rider defaults to Legends and style to Classic.
I'm under the impression that triggers the weird "rider sitting backward" bug.

2. In the garage, clicking on the button to admire the bike in the pitlane: hiding the "tooltip" with the space bar, the mouse does no longer move the camera (not sure it's intentional).

Question as per title: anybody using Nvidia DSR with PiBoSo's sims ?

I gave it a try and I seem to prefer it.

My usual settings: 1920x1080 @ 120Hz, AAx8, everything else maxed out (1080 is my monitor's native res, of course).
DSR settings: 3849x2160 @ 120Hz, AAx0, everything else maxed out.
