I dont undrestand what you mean by : "the bar must have a feedback loop to track the angle provided by GPB". Of course it need that feedback, like all normal wheel. the ffb motor will be a normal FFB motor like any wheel, it just need to not be "turned by the user by inputing angle, but torque, even if of course the handle bar will turn when you input torque".

Why whould be the FFB torque be a problem cause when it is static then the torque calculated is just the torque you apply on the loadcell witch is a separate input on the handle bar (nothing to do with the ffb motor or sensor). if the ffb return angle that may be caused by curbs or whooble then you just need to apply more torque, just like in real life .......

Edit : Car sim is not comparable, cause you turn your wheel way larger in angle than a bike handle bar. That's why apply in torque is more intuitive and natural then turning and applying angle .......

Edit 2 : It just like when you use head tracker to controll rider lean wich influance the bike lean ........just replace the ed tracker by the loadcell and the bike lean by steering angle .....

For those who have trouble using DSA to get out of pit, please note that in DS mode, the virtual rider auto lean doesn't do anything, you are forced to use manual rider lean. I victoria, i take the bike out of garage by using the "push bike" command that i assigned with the wheel up and down button then when i'm aligned to the pit line i lean forward and centered and it is easier to Start. I'will make a thread with a video of me riding in DSA mode and explain to you that with a relative simple setup (in my case a G920 wheel + a ps3 cam that track my face with facetracknoir) you can enjoy Direct Steering ......

What would perfectly mimic the real world with DST 1 (torque) will be :

- A handle bar with torque sensor (load cell) which you push when you want to lean, and which will sent torque input to gpbike
- Then Gpbikes calculate the appropriate steering angle resulting from that torque, and then re send it to a FFB motor in which is attached the handlebar. (the motor need to be powerfull enough to not receive "false angle" when you push on it ) this loop need to have the smallest latence possible. So you think your turning your handle bar when actually you just input torque.

- Then Gpbike add the virtual rider lean torque calculated for exemple from a Track ir attached to the rider and then lean the bike accordignly.

I don't know if GPbikes can separate the torque input and the steering angle output but even assuming it is the case, the real problem with Direct steering is (DST and DSA) : In real life you have the centrifugal force that tell you your leaning + off course your knee and what your eyes see. In Gpbikes DS mode you only know you reach your maximum lean angle when your tyres start losing grip, which is of course too late......

The worst thing about DS is that it is way more difficult than riding a real bike, because of the lack of feedback and dedicated controller ........

I would vote for "Love it but cannot manage to stay on my wheel" option lol

Support / GPbikes infected or false positive ?
May 05, 2019, 07:22:02 am
Hi all,
After a long time not playing gp bikes, i'm now back and go downloaded the latest beta, but, Windows defender keep deleting the downloaded file, saying it is infected by a dangerous malware called "unwaders.c ml". I've tryed every link and all is infected ...

My question is : Is it really a virus, or a false positive. i've searched for unwaders.c ml on the internet and it seems dangerous. So before i create an exeption in my antivirus, i wanna be sure.

Thx

i think the best option is to link the rider lean to the VR headset lean, so you're forced to lean yourself actually .....

Wow, i think this guy is on forum, i don't remember his name but this video just blow my mind. and he is very good with Hardcore mode !!!!

Quote from: poumpouny on April 08, 2019, 01:59:56 pmI think Rfactor 2 had it for years ... or i'm missing something ?

In terms of AI, its a first for the industry, seemingly quite close ideologically to the SKYNET in terminator, where it learns from itself and imitates a human thought process, although the parameters are hugely different (I hope lol).

As for the helmets, IDK if Rfactor2 has this feature, not looked at paints for that, just the driving.

One of the things that was in Rfactor/Rfactor2 is sidecars. Would love to see those in GPB, or WRS considering their handling characteristics, but its unlikely as supporting them isn't on Pibs radar to my knowledge sadly :(

I means the AI thing exist for Rfactor 2 since many years. Rfactor 2 AI is adapting to track / player. Which mean, when a new track is released, the AI is slow but the most they race on it the faster they become ...
So i think the name "Neural" is just a Marketing thiing that milestone is so used to fool people for decades now .....

- For me, exept for Klax, who is just a genius, and who represent may be 0.001% of the humanity, playing GPbikes with DS mode with a gamepad doesn't make any sens !

- The discussion about DSA or DST have been discused widely in the forum, the only thing is that with DST torque applyed to handelbar is directly influenced by torque resulting from rider lean. In DSA you have 2 different input, the angle from the steering and the torque from the rider lean (which result in a sort of approximation if i can use that word).

- As you said, the main difficulty for DS mode is the lack of feedback. In real life, you use your knee to check your leaning (+ some natural intution and reflex). why not just use a FFB vibration on the wheel for exemple to tell you that your virtual knee touch the ground so you are aware. You say it's is a muscle memory, of course it's a muscle memory even in real life ....... that doesn't mean that you cannot go behond that warning of course you can but depending on speed, grip, track etc, which is already calculated by gpbikes now ........

- With the current model, you don't have any feed back until you loose the front ...... and the only thing you can do is a Visual aproximation of the leaning ..........

I don't understand what you mean, does DS1 and DS2 mean DSA (direct steer Angle) and DST (Direct Steer Torque) ? What is the point of having direct Steering mode and having an autopilot to keep you from falling, because it's already what the normal steering mode does.

What you said about "additionaly apply torque to handle bar ...." it's already what DST does now

Gpbikes has 2 steering mode :

Normal mode : when you have to use your joystick or FFB Wheel input to tell the engine you want to lean Left or Right, and how much, then it lock your leaning at maximum possible angle (keep you from falling)

Hardcore mode DSA : you are responsible of your leaning (depending on steering input and rider lean input you have to control both) and the is no limitation, if you lean too much then you fall, nobody is catching you from falling

Hardcore mode DST : the exacte same thing exept you do not input Steering angle, you input torque which is convert by GPbike physic engine to the correspondant steer angle.

What i suggest is simple : Take the normal steering mode, and get rid off the lean angle limitation. So you can controll the bike easily (you just input in what direction you want to lean and how much then the virtual rider put the correspondant steering angle /torque and rider lean, but then you have to limit yourself leaning ......so if you lean to much, you fall .......

WOW exactly what I want to do but with less cable  ;D is the handle bar easily removable so you can just unplug it and put your wheel or did you sacrifice the fanatec wheel just for GPbikes ?
