DD

Would be interesting to hear your opinion on how they compare.
Does SimRacingStudio sell licenses for shakers separate?

If you do a setup for GPB with it would be great to have a video

DD

It is incredibly easy to setup. Just start the software, click autosetup for GPBikes and you're good to go!

After that you just activate the functions that you need.

I got it working with my diy bass shaker. Some effects seem missing, but it's cool to feel the engine vibrations in the seat!

Hard to tell if some sarcasm got stuck in the web filter. In any case;

The animations were changed in Beta19, so you have to download the new ones from Manu's Discord.

Custom hardware / The perfect gamepad
December 15, 2020, 10:51:10 AM
Hello everybody!

I have been thinking lately about what the holdbacks of using a gamepad when driving motorcycle games.

Of course there are advanced solutions like my Force feedback M302 controller for Direct Steer (countersteering mode), or DD's HS controllers for normal steering. Those can not really be compared to a gamepad neither in price nor experience.

It is quite a big step between all those right now.

Maggikk made a great little bolt-on force feedback unit for the gamepad which looks really promising, but I'm not sure how the progress is right now.

What would the features be of your perfect gamepad?

- Better resolution in the steering axis?
- Gyro functionality? (I have been experimenting with this some.. Could be something!)
- Better brake controls?

Tell me your dreams!

I second this, it would be very helpful.

Yes, it makes a difference?

If you install "as administrator ", does it make a difference? Are you sure the game has user rights to write in all the game folders?

Holy hell!
Love it!

Ffb works without DS, it would probably add to the feeling of weight you are looking for.
It just feels weird with my controller, but with a DD type swivel I'm sure it would suit better.

I can confirm that Vini.

VR+DS=<3

It does need some work on the game side to be able to set high power feedback without getting oscillations. Even if my ffb unit is powerful enough, I can't use the full potential.

Front/back tilt would be a great addition. Ideal would be to be able to implement heave into that.
Yaw for wobbles would be the cherry on top, that is pretty uncomfortable in VR without motion.

Quote from: Hawk on November 01, 2020, 12:11:37 PMIf your VR headset is 60Hz then it's pointless setting it any higher in software settings, you'd have no benefit whatsoever.  ;)

Isn't the index 144Hz?
Or maybe I'm putting my nose in an inside joke here..

When using "lock to bike" the brake wobbling is very nauseating. Other than that, I think it works just fine!

Try turning off the helpers in settings. Wheelie help and such. They usually don't work with mod bikes.

I think you made a great system, and your concepts obviously work well (from what I have heard and can see from videos, unfortunately haven't had the chance to try one yet).
It's a great concept no one can say anything about that.
I wouldn't go as far as calling it the final/only solution though.
Strong Direct drive force feedback units combined with  directsteer has a lot of potential (can't be compared to the feeling on a g27).
It's far from perfect currently, but it is still the most fun and the closest to a motorcycle simulation I have ever tried (I'm no Rossi, it I've done my share of laps around race tracks over the years).

It's awesome what you are doing getting GPB out there and making universities aware of the possibilities of motorcycle simulation!

The BMW looks fantastic mate. That must be great with the new VR kit!
