Custom hardware / Re: Gamepad with Real FFB

Quote from: maggikk22 on March 11, 2020, 10:01:02 AMyes, I found that the steertorque value is unstable in both cases: standard gamepad with normal steering mode, or racing wheel with FFB and Direct steer mode.

Yes, but what I meant is;
Does it affect the ffb when using normal steering in the same way it does the direct steering ffb, or are the two different equations?

Could the new P/D-settings for direct steer in the bike config help remedy the problem in that case?

Does this happen also with "normal steering"?

I don't have the answer to any of that, but I use direct steering with my FFB (USB, "normal" FFB) rig and that signal could explain the extreme chattering I get when going straight, braking and turning. Strangely enough, sometimes the chatter goes away when leaned over at a specific angle...

Cool, hadn't seen your dash either!
Hats' off!

Hahaa, a wonderful little piece of ingenuity! Good job!
What did you end up using? Udp or HID?

Quote from: PiBoSo on April 28, 2013, 08:53:51 PMLike in "directsteer=1" mode, it is possible to set the proportional and derivative controller parameters adding a file named "directsteer.cfg" in the bike folder.
The only difference is that the "torque" section is ignored.

What does this mean in-game?
P: A higher number means more sensitive to the difference between in and out value? A lower number smoother and "slower"?

D: Anticipation of what is to come, but how would that effect the actual steering?

These settings will be helpful when trying to tune in the "feel" of a bike (big&heavy or light&fast) or help making directsteer easier to use?

Been waiting for a follow up!

Have you continued developing the rig?

How's it going Poupou? Progress?

View depents to the controller?
Nope, but the way the bike behaves does.
I guess I just don't understand what you mean. The horizon and landscape moves? Different from how the track moves? The bike flicks too fast?

There are settings for the helmet cam. You can set how much it should lean and as said above, corner anticipation. Play around with camera settings a bit. (Could also be related to "fov")

Quote from: keco2002 on December 07, 2019, 04:52:25 PMwhat do you mean the lean and steering and lean are linked like in real life, im new to motorcycles in general and i dont really know much.

When a bike is up to speed it is impossible to just "lean it" due to the gyroscopic forces and the geometry of the tires. (That is why so many are skeptical to the lean-to-steer controllers)

However, to turn a bike needs to lean. So the rider only has one choice, and that is to turn the handlebars to the opposite direction of that which he wants to turn. That puts the bike of balance and leans the bike in the direction the rider wants to go. This is where the geometry of the tires starts to do their magic. It's the same thing as laying a glass on its side and rolling it.  It turns.
Shifting your body weight adds to the effect, since the center of gravity moves further from the middle axis.

The result of this is that;
To steer a motorcycle, you need to turn the handlebars. The lean is a response to that. They are "Linked".
Does that make sense?

Things are of course a bit more complicated than this, but it's a start. :)

Quote from: doohan on November 24, 2019, 07:40:31 PMIt is really very difficult, but don't worry about that, because this is exactly my expertise area. If I had a basic support from GP bikes developers I can create bespoke products.

Have you built something like that before? I think you might need to be a bit more specific  with what you want to do if you want to catch the interest of Piboso (which in general doesn't seem like an easy thing to do ;) ). If it's basic, maybe you can get the needed support from the community?

Have you read anything about the plugin supplied? There is an example here: Gpb example . There is also a UDP function that can send data.
(Just noticed that matty wrote this, sorry :) )

I'm building a ffb device specifically for Gp-bikes, but not in a rush. The "proof-of-concept" prototype was based on a "driving force GT" and worked surprisingly well.

Sounds interesting!
Getting both telemetry data and ffb to one unit will require quite some programming in both windows and Arduino. What do you want to build?

A steering driving system

But using your G25 is not an option? What more functions do you want?

Quote from: Chris_Beeves on November 21, 2019, 09:57:49 PMThere is. What controller are you using?

I use gamepad or Arduino or Logitech G25 wheel.I am interested in Arduino output (as a value ?).

What Arduino output are you interested in? Telemetry or ffb?

G25 works great and is pretty much plug n' play depending on how you want to use it.
