In the meantime i found this hoverboard locally Its supposed to be an all terrain 10 inch wheel jobby, or, more importantly, 350w motors.
Ive also ordered a BTS7960B 43A driver in the hope it is big enough unless someone here knows different.

Now i need an encoder but how big? is a 600p/r enough for the FFb or do i need more res'? I appreciate more is always better but im starting on a budget here so any advice would be cool

The hoverboard motors are excellent, but you will need a better motor driver. The BTS is a H-bridge, you will need a BLDC driver with encoder support. Something like the VESC or similar.
600p/r is on the low side, but you can always use a gear ratio. I use my 2000p/r encoders 1:2 so I get 4000p/r or 16000c/r.

Yeah, there have been different stock bikes in the past. I know piboso has said in the past that he wants more content so probably there will be more when he finds the time.

That's the only bike. Three tracks and one bike. There are lots of nice mods though!

Monday I finally get to start working on this. Some of the hardware has arrived, so electrically we're pretty set except for cabling.

Udp follows the same structure as the other plugins. Maybe that can help figuring it out?

Yeah, yaw is global heading. You'd need to calculate. Wouldn't use only yaw for traction loss though.

Edit: not global heading, bike heading in the global axis system..
The difference between yaw and direction could be a good start maybe?

Yeah, putting a UV joint under where the footpegs are probably makes it easier to expand. Heave will be a big step though if you bolt the chassis to the ground.

UDP is just fine. Most telemetry isn't faster than 60Hz anyway (I think). That leaves lots of headroom even if losing packets.

Yeah, you feed the hall sensor 5v and get back a voltage that goes from 2,5-5V or 2,5-0V depending on which pole you have facing it.

It's a simple design compared to using a pot, which usually gets quite mechanically complex. Before I had the hall sensor I used the bike brake wire and hooked the end up to a sliding potentiometer. That worked good too, but it was nice to lose all the extra stuff.

This is the bicycle clutch. Could have been a more powerful spring, but it did the job and I liked it. You cannot see attachments on this board.

The sensor just plugs into an arduino, bodnar or whatever you have.
