@Piboso: When I click to reply on the forum I'm starting to get re-direct links to crappy website adverts? Any idea what's happening here?

I thought it maybe a left-over malware on my computer somewhere but I've done a full scan and yet this is still happening, so I can only presume it's a forum server issue?  :(

This was the last website the reply button sent me to: NSFW link

Tracks / Track Downloads Database Admin Announcement
January 28, 2017, 11:58:15 AM
As from the 11th Feb 2017 I will be discontinuing my role as "Administrator" of the "Track Downloads Database".

I've been thinking about this for a few months now as my time is limited and I want to devout more time and effort into the CAWS MOD Team and Bike/Track development itself as well as other projects I want to put my mind to. Also the fact that I've been doing this role for so long now and the community is evolving and changing it's outlook on how they want things done around here, so I just feel that it's time for someone else to take over the reins with fresh ideas.  :)

I will leave the current MEGA based Track Database up until the 11th Feb 2017 to allow for anyone who wishes to take-over the database admin role to download any tracks they need to form their own Track Database System for the community, after which I will delete all the tracks from my MEGA account to give me the storage space I'm going to need for my other project work.

If anyone wants to take over the Track Database Admin role(Please post your intentions below so the community knows what's happening), then I'd be happy to give any advice/help they may require until they have got their own track database established.  ;) 8)

Finally, as far as I'm concerned, throughout all the years this has been a team effort, so I'd especially like to thank Piboso, the Forum Moderators, and all the server admins/hosts and people that have helped and co-operated in the smooth running of the Track Database system over all these years, it's been very much appreciated. Thank you!  ;) 8)

Hi Piboso.

Any chance we could have the "Slipper Clutch" settings for the 4 stroke bikes adjustable as function in the garage please?

Support / FBX2EDF issue....
November 09, 2016, 08:34:21 PM
I don't know why, but the FBX2EDF converter has suddenly decided to literally crash 3 quarters of the way through it's usual time frame for completing a .map with shadow sampling run. This is such a soul destroyer as it takes at least an hour before I know whether it's going to work or not right now.  :(

Just installed all the latest Win 7 X64 updates today. Also tried a total fresh reboot of my system.

This is strange because it was working fine before now.

I have tried 4 consecutive runs and all 4 runs crashed at about the same time 1.2 hrs into the session.

Screenshot of what happens when it crashes below:

Bug Reports / Checkline Bug
November 06, 2016, 07:22:16 PM
Hi Piboso.

Just finished my latest update to the Silvertone V0.96_NDS TrackMOD and found that when I have the checkline added it causes the screen to stutter-lag slightly at certain points when riding around the track. When I take the checkline files out of the track folder and test again the screen stays smooth at all points when riding around the track. I'm presuming therefore that it is an issue with the checkline?

I've included a download link below for the track concerned. If you could check it out please and confirm if it is a checkline issue or a track issue? Thank you and appreciated.  :)

PS: If others would like to download and test this too then feel welcome to do so and report back here please. Thanks.  ;) 8)

I have noticed with the new bike reset system that sometimes the bike can end up on a hill or in an awkward terrain gully and the bike really does slip too easily on the grass in those uphill or downhill situations which leads me to believe the grass is too slippy?

My controller calibration settings are still not saving in GPB beta 9c. I have to recalibrate each time I run GPB. This was also a problem with beta's 8/9a and b.

Support / AdBlock Plus and GPB??
September 25, 2016, 12:22:53 PM
I'm just wondering if there is any possibility that there is a conflict between the operation of AdBlock Plus and GPBikes?

I say this because I've only recently installed "AdBlock Plus" for the first time two days ago and ever since then I've been getting regular core.exe crashes and ODE Error crashes when running GPBikes. I don't get many GPBike app crashes so this is very unusual for me to suddenly have so many happen like this. I just thought this maybe an indicator that there is a conflict somewhere between the two apps?

Off Topic / Win 10 Update that Screwed Your FPS Rates?
September 17, 2016, 11:45:43 AM
Here is the update in question: Update KB3176938

Uninstall that update and you should be back to normal FPS rates for your system.

Note: Do this at your own risk. I accept no responsibility if you screw your system up.   :P

Any chance you can cut-out the rider bobbing-up action when the rider changes gear.... Does anyone see racers doing that in reality?

I would think it's a very inefficient action to take myself? Keeping your body still while changing gear is SO much more efficient and the bike doesn't have to absorb any inertial energy from all that body/weight movement too.

General Discussion / Tyre physics and High-Siding
August 12, 2016, 01:24:46 PM
I noticed that when the rear tyres in GPB start to break away and you shut the throttle off completely the tyres should in the great majority of cases grip again violently and cause a high-side. This doesn't tend to happen with the tyres in GPB.
Now is this a limitation in the core programme tyre physics simulation, or is it just that the tyre physics settings are not set up accurately enough by bike modders? Because the tyres certainly don't seem to react as they should do in GPB compared to real life, so I'm just wondering if there is still some core programme physics work to work on with the tyre physics in GPB?

What do you guys think about this?

Hi Piboso.

This is something I'm sure no modder would like to ask for, but there is evidence of flagrant abuse of modders work without asking for permissions first. Therefore unfortunately I'd like to request a modders file encryption tool(for vital physics and texture files) to avoid any of this very annoying practice happening in future.

Let me make it clear that I personally and I'm sure all decent modders are very willing to help and advise others who wish to make mod bikes and tracks or whatever it is that they are having problems with, but when some just take without at least having the decency to ask first then it is very annoying and well out of order. A tool like this would stop that practice.

If you are willing to consider this request, then if you could make it so that the modder who encrypts the file/s can assign a password to those encrypted files so that at any later date they can use that password to decrypt the files too. This would be very handy in circumstances were the modder has lost his original files and can gain access to them again by having the option to decrypt any files already released.

Note to all modders: Please ask the original authors before you just take and use their work. Most decent modders are very willing to help when asked to do so, but when you just take others hard work without any appreciation of the work that has gone into it then it is very annoying indeed.

Again, I'm sorry I've had to ask for this tool Piboso but I think it is now needed.  :(

Off Topic / Is the world going MAD!!!
July 21, 2016, 01:53:53 PM
If I told you guys that a company submitted a patent application in 2010 in the USA that legally gives that company the rights to any voice communications device and that patent was accepted by the US Patent offices, would you believe me? I doubt it, but it's actually true!! In effect, the USA Patent Office has legally accepted that the phone was invented in the year 2010. Lol! :o :o

Now that USA company which was granted that patent is suing all the major mobile phone companies(including Apple) for breaching their patent without negotiating a product licence and any money now owed to them from the sales of all the major brand mobile phones.

What on earth is going on in the USA! Are they going MAD!!??  :o

Bug Reports / TrackED BUGS?
July 09, 2016, 08:29:55 AM
I've noticed in TrackED when I load the track Sendai_V0.8_NDS.trp, that TrackED is very slow to respond to any inputs at all. It's as if the track info is too big for any info buffer that is used in tracked and is having to wait for information to be processed before it reacts even to just moving the track around the screen via the "Z+LFT mouse Butt" move command. But also when selecting a menu, the drop down menu's take ages to actually drop down to show the sub-menu's with this track loaded in.

I noticed this in the previous version too. Is this a bug?

I was playing about with BikeED the other day and noticed that when I adjusted the "Ground Clearance" marker close to the bottom of the bike main fairing(as you would logically expect to do to define the point where the maximum ground clearance for the fairing is), I started to get the rider jumping off the bike when cornering, even when cornering in the middle of the track surface. If I lowered the ground clearance by positioning that marker in BikeED lower towards the ground giving a greater space between that marker and the main fairing the rider stopped jumping off the bike.

So conclusion is that maybe we are misunderstanding the logic behind that "Ground Clearance" marker in BikeED and actually to get more clearance we need to lower that marker towards the ground instead of positioning it close the the bottom of the bike main fairing?

For those bikes with a problem I suggest the bike authors give this a try.  ;)

I'm getting a progressively increasing amount of "Bad Gateway" pages appearing when I click on forum thread links to take me to another forum thread.  :-\
It's not every time we click a thread link at the moment but just noticed it's getting really regular now.  :(

Anyone else starting to experience these problems?

Valentino Rossi: "It would be really curious. But I guess that even if the 500 two-stroke bikes would be back, they would never be like the machines I rode. Electronics changes the character of the bikes. Anyway, I would really love to ride a 500cc two-stroke bike again!"

Jorge Lorenzo: "No. I like the four-stroke bikes and the technological development of the last decade has gone in this direction. The bikes have improved a lot, not only in terms of performance but also as far as safety is concerned, so I prefer to stick with what we have. The old 500cc were dangerous and difficult to manage. I have never had the chance to ride a 500cc machine, but I remember how it was to ride the 250cc. You needed to be so delicate with the gas to avoid a crash."

Marc Marquez: "Ha ha ha. If it is the same for everyone, why not?"

Andrea Dovizioso: "No. I have never tried one, so I don't know what it would be like ride a 500cc two-stroke machine. But I think that bike was very angry."

Scott Redding:
"Yes, I'd love to be racing a 500cc two-stroke, especially with the advances in tire technology since they last raced. I think every rider will answer yes to this, surely?"

Bradley Smith: "The 500 two-stroke machines are over. The era is done and the new MotoGP bikes are more technically advanced. There is always an evolution in racing. Of course we enjoyed the period of the 500cc, but as everything in life we evolve. It is the same for the electric cars. I think we will arrive to a point where we will only have sport electric cars. I don't feel too disappointed I missed that era, although I would still like to ride a 500cc machine just to say, 'I have a picture and I rode one!'"

Pol Espargaro:
"Why should we go back to the 500cc machines if we can ride faster with what we have now? For sure, I would love to test this kind of bike. It would be a great experience. Can you imagine jumping on the bike that great champions like Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, Kevin Schwantz, or Mick Doohan rode? I would love to discover their feelings while riding. In the same way, I'm sure that they also would love to test a MotoGP. A rider simply loves to ride all kind of bikes."
