That's a strange thing, with another OS than yours he has the same problem.
Have you all the right on you Computer? You have something that your friend have to, and probably it comes from a game you have both, or a program.

We have barely the same game software: flight and racing sims, but we've not shared any folders or software.
And yes, I use to get all admin rights, just to avoid these problems.

Another thing before the big reinstall:
Try to mount a virtual machine with vmware and install the game in, only to know if it's possible, try with a win10 or a win7.

That's a brilliant, sir. Great idea. I have to try that. Thank you

In that case I would ask yourself what you and your friends PC's or GPB installs have in common? You may find your answer.  ;)

I agree. Let's see if we can find the solution. We are on it.

(...) Remember Piboso did state that Beta 7 requires a total fresh install.  :)

Yes, all fresh installs until now.

This is getting interesting...

A friend of mine got GP Bikes today and seems to has exactly the same problem. He runs Windows 7 with a Radeon 7870.

Formating C:/ and making a fresh windows 10 install is not in my plans actually... I prefer to wait the necessary time until I find another solution or PiBoSo releases a new version  :-\ (400GB+ of software in C:/).

Fingers crossed.

Does GPB need the MSVC redistributable?

AFAIK GP Bikes doesn't need any distribuitable package (not really sure...), anyway I've tried installing some importants distributable packages from MS (Visual C++, Frameworks, XNA, etc). Didn't help.

But the interesting thing here is that some old Framework installer from early versions failed to open the *.exe the same way that core.exe. It appears for one second in the Task Manager and closes. (See my yoshimura reply in this post)

i remember the problem that max say about it on skyrim,  on a fresh windows install.
The sound parameters were really to high for the game to start,  32bits when 16 was needed for example.

About the audio parameters, I allready tried to switch gpbikes.ini from 32 to 16 and back in the audio section, even before from starting this thread. It's tipicall that some audio devices return lot of problems with other devices, but all seems to be ok. Nothing works.

in Task Manager core.exe is active?

That's the main problem. As soon as I execute core.exe or GP Bikes shortcut, it appears and disappears instantly in the Task Manager.

tried disconnecting (physically) all your controllers - G25, Saitek and/or whatever else. then install the game, and add controllers back one at a time?
just another straw, lol.....

Yep, that's my last option, as my desktop is a total cable madness ;D

---

All my software is running without no problem, incluide all my games (mainly steam). I updated again my Nvidia drivers with the lastest version from two days ago, still the same problem.

I'm running out of ideas  :-\

That's exactly what I was looking right now. Will try to install some of redistribuitables to see if that works.

Safe mode too?

I've not tried yet. But correct me if I'm wrong but 3D acceleration doesn't work in safe mode, right?

Thanks Hawk, but I tried that all even after make the first post.

I think I'm out of ideas too. I hope PiBoSo take a look here and brings some lights to this.

Thank you all for the tips, guys!

Try this - it is a tried and tested version. Might work might not.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3jb939vsm4cdu0t/gpbikes-beta7b.zip?dl=0

Ready!

Thanks Napalm Nick. Tried it and doesn't work neither. I've tried installing it in program files and in C:/. Tried also Compatibility=0 and nothing happens.

This is getting really weird...

Do the following: install in C:/GP Bikes (i.e. not under Program files).
The edit core.ini and set compatibility to 0 (zero): this will make GPB write all his data in the install dir (C:/GP Bikes) instead of using the usual dir ( C:\Users\David\Documents\PiBoSo\GP Bikes).

May not explain why the standard stuff doesn't work but may allow you to play :)

I've tried right now and still doesn't run. The mouse pointer loading icon blinks twice and nothing happens. I've also took a look to the windows task manager and the process core.exe doesn't appears neither.

Hi,

  • In which folder is GPB installed ?
  • Is there a core.ini file ? What's the content of that ?
  • Can you give the exact path of your "My Document" folder ?
  • Do you have a <My Documents>/Piboso/GP Bikes folder (Data folder)? Is there something inside ?

MaX.

  • I've tried performing the generic install procedule in Program Files and I've tried installing it in C:/. Still not working
  • Yes. this is the content of the core.ini

  • Of course: C:\Users\David\Documents\PiBoSo
Compatibility is set to 1 in core.ini
  • The folder PiBoSo in my documents folder is actually empty, but it exists

Are you guys able to run GP Bikes in Windows 10?

Tried all with any luck.

Is there any log file where I could get info about the crash?

Check if your antivirus stop the process "core.exe"  :-\

Actually no. I'm using Windows Defender and it seems to not bock any GP Bikes files

Quote from: WALKEN on November 02, 2015, 11:42:50 PM
check your screen resolution.

Never had issues with screen resolution.

Quote from: janaucarre on November 02, 2015, 11:53:08 PM
check if the game is well installed, if your antivirus was running during the installation perhaps it has blocked some files.

I've make Windows Defender to not blocking any files, from the installer and from the target folder.

I've tried to install GP Bikes several times and it keeps not running.

Hi. I've tried to find the same problem in the forum but I've found nothing similar.

I'm running Windows 10 x64 with the lastest Nvidia drivers. For more info I have a GTX 970, a Logitech G25, a Thrustmaster Hotas-X and some Saitek products connected.

I've also tried with administrator permissions and compatibility mode.

When I run GP Bikes it does absolutely nothing, also no error windows.

Any advice?

I'll just ask it here since this seems the most busy thread.
What do I need to do if I want to translate GP Bikes in my language?
Which files do I need to edit?

You can find the original language file in the ui.pkz package. Find it in "C:\Program Files\GP Bikes\gpbikes" or wherever you have installed GP Bikes. Just open ui.pkz with winrar or a similar software and find a file called english.str. Extract it just draggin it to your desktop and change the name to your language name. Now you can open it with notepad or whichever plain text editor software. The translation process is quite simple, but requires some time. After you're done, create a folder called ui in the main gpbikes folder and drag your new translation file there.

Good luck ;)
