QuoteSeriously guys after doing over 25 years pro building I think you aint got a clue when it comes to street fighter with an HD style setup. This is a sweet design so fook you all....................BIG LOL just windin you up BUT tis true. Besides some of us are real bikers lol

?

+1... what the.... confused about the point you were trying to make there DD.  ???

Knowing pretty much everything there is to know about 'fighters due to being a big part of the North American Street Fighter scene, I've gotta say (and the old English guys I know agree) that it really depends on the date on the calendar and where in the world you are standing, as to what a street fighter is. Back Street Hero's had coined the name a long time ago, and the bikes in the article look NOTHING like what the Aussies, Americans, and everywhere else considers a 'fighter nowadays. Although, at the time that BSH was publishing that article, there was bikes all over the planet of that style... they just finally had a name.

DD hit it on the head that a good rider on a fighter could humiliate the fastest bikes out there that you can purchase at the dealer. When you combine the most monstrous engine with the best brakes, suspension, and tires, then dump it all into a custom frame with all the right geometry and ergo's, it is like a motorcycle on a 10 day meth bender shooting 'roids... hence why they are "fighters".

Scottish style:

Definition of North American Street Fighter:

The arguments that happen over builders forums get out of control at times... but like said, depends on if this is 1996, or 2017, and where on the planet you are standing, as to what a streetfighter is... but the fact will always remain, the English coined the term, and it was describing bikes that look nothing like the current average on the scene at this point. :)

Remember guys, ain't alot of us out there, so....

Shameless plug for the best motorcycle community I've ever been part of. So much talent past and present on there. I'm the hooligan legend known as, "RatFighter". 8)

Bikes / Re: Has anyone made a CB500 or SV650?
May 07, 2017, 06:12:26 AM
My brother got to ride a Supertwins SV650 at Blackhawk Farms to get his local license for racing, and he said that thing pulled flat into the rev limiter, and had nearly infinite handling ability stacked next to his mainly street oriented CBR600F3 of nearly the same year. Never heard of "minitwins" but it sounds like what I built a Ninja 650R into before there was ever a racing class around them. Would love to see something of the sort join the ranks of GP Bikes mod bikes. :)

I'll take a look tonight and see if I can get this to work in beta 11  :)

I can look into it and see what version it came from, but I think it was the version before Beta 7b. Meaning it likely requires the stand file stuff, and as well, anything that changed in the files to bring mod bikes over to current beta's after the pit stand stuff was added. The new rigid suspension and chassis flex could actually turn this mod bike into a really nice rider (despite the peg grinding everywhere it goes at lean angle).

(wow, finally figured out the embed code without copy and pasting from another quoted reply. gonna be a good day!  ;D)

Urban, I'm pretty sure the engine power I put into it was equal to a S&S 110ci crate engine, compared to the wimpy little iron 1200 mill that was original to the bike. Two engine maps for it (big fire breathing V twin, and a close to stock Sporty 1200 engine) would give this bike a really nice feel. I live (literally) about 100 miles from Milwaukee, so I live with the HD crowd being everywhere. Way more into Japanese stuff myself, and I like the Italian ladies, but a little piece of me will always enjoy the slow and steady of a cruiser from time to time. Can't bring myself to own one, but anytime someone hands me the keys I don't turn it down.  ;)

Can't remember what version I had with this thing, but someone that knows modding could probably do whatever is required to get this thing in the current beta. I may have increased engine power output a bit.... no idea where to even find the original engine file... whatever, here's what was on the hard drive, can't believe I still have it.

IIRC, there was two versions, this one I uploaded with the slash cut pipes and more detail... and the original upload that had a turbocharger and a bunch of small things missing. The current suspension and chassis possibilities in GP Bikes could actually make this thing handle like the real thing.

Suit yourself, I'll just keep my opinions and idea's to myself from now on since it's constantly perceived as me not, "using my brain".  ???

Off Topic / Re: New Alpha, Beta games...

A good EA title that returns on the $15 purchase price is "My Summer Car". Though I am a mechanic in the real world, and a whiz with carbs and engine tuning, the game offers a challenge that can compete with the best games/sims out there. It's an adult version of Street Legal Racing Redline. Comparing it to other mechanic games, it is more immersive (you can actually drive the car when you finish it) with better physics than any of the "car mechanic sim" titles out there. The developer is some dude from Finland, he has a great sense of humor, and has been rolling out updates and hot fixes on a bi-weekly, to monthly basis with new content being added pretty regularly.

I also have a strange affection for the nostalgia of endless summers in the countryside turning a wrench on an old junker car, so maybe I love MSC a little more than I should, it's at least made this winter go by a bit easier with heat in my motorcycle shop, and MSC here in the office to kill some time when there isn't much else to do. :D

MSC is on steam as well. ;)

If NCG: Wreckfest interests you, and you want more of that car smashing goodness, BeamNG.drive is a fantastic title for sandbox car smashing fun. The physics are second to none, the car deformation has improved so much in the past few years of development that cars with subframes, in the event of a bad enough crash, can detach the subframe (usually taking engine and suspension with it) and the car itself can be torn apart in wildly realistic ways. Cars, trucks, boats, planes, helicopters, and everything else you can imagine is well represented, and the more you master the finer aspects of the game, the more fun it is to find new and interesting ways to survive, or destroy the vehicles available. The modding community is HUGE, and there is quite a few names that make up a good pool of talent from over the years in the general modding community, that have found their way over to BeamNG.

I don't use GPB on a public basis, but the video's I share from youtube are always tagged up with the website URL and very clear mention of who developed the sim in the first place. Not sure it's ever convinced anyone to buy a license, but even if one person invested in it, it's totally worth it. :D

I would really like to see a simulator (motion type) that can get as violent as a real bike does in a big tank slapper out of a corner. The liability issues and safety issues that go with that are tremendous, but on a personal level it would be alot of fun to try out so long as there is a fail safe that shuts it down if the rider comes off the bike so you aren't at the mercy of a cartwheeling 400lb machine being translated into a chassis you are sitting on in real life.  :o

These kinds of wings are strongly recommended for security and its an offence to the rules of moto races to no use them.
Seriously the better manner to win a race is having a plane with two wheels and 100'000 hp, no???

It's the only logical step to come next.  8)

Early development? Or just some crafty photoshop... the way MotoGP is going I can't even tell anymore.  ;D

I hear motocross is experimenting with wings too.  :P

yeah they need some weight on the rear now with all that downforce on the front  ;D ;D Maybe we will see rear wings lol  ::)

LOL

:o That was awful passive aggressive.

I've got a great deal of respect for the group here on the GPB forum. There is alot of history of the forum changing venue and also how small the original group was that was following the Piboso title GP Bikes. I came around at the start of Alpha3, and was instantly hooked, ended up joining the forum, and the rest is a long, cool, personal history of watching some extremely technical discussion happen through the years. Max isn't just on about nothing, he's extremely intelligent when it comes to, and discussing, everything physical about motorcycles. As well, there is a hand full or two of other members here that I've grown to respect the replies of in stuff like this, just like I enjoy reading Max's comprehensive list of evidence to support his stance on things as mysterious as aerodynamic force applied to a motorcycle at racing pace.

Compared to them, I am, indeed, not worthy of contribution to this discussion as I am no where near as intelligent about the topic as they are. I know when I should just sit back and read what others have to say, it's a good skill to have. And when I talk, it's usually long winded because I address the entirety of the topic in one fell swoop, in detail. Like now...  ;D

Not at all trying to "take sides" here, but personal argument between two people, in the middle of a fantastic discussion about the how and why of the recent era ushering in aerodynamic modifications in top tier motorcycle racing, kinda ruins it a little and spoils the excitement of speculating on what this whole thing is really about. Sure the bike is indeed ugly, but, it was a great catalyst for identifying the true reasoning for winglets and all matter of bodywork changes we've seen recently.

Anyway, carry on, I'm off to go bang some rocks together in an attempt to make fire while the brains of the operation figure out why MotoGP has winglets. lol  8)

Wow, that was an "interesting" read. Aerodynamic theory is incredibly complex and really not something my caveman brain is going to get into on the internet.  :D

That Ducati is indeed ugly as sin though.  ;D

My 2c: it's just electronics-fobia and it-was-better-before attitude.

For MotoGP, last year has been spectacular (and previous ones too), MotoGP seems to be heading in the right direction.
If people want to remember the good old times, they can re-watch 500cc races on analog VHS tapes on CRT TVs, just to stick with the original spirit :)

It has gotten to that point for me, current MotoGP is spectacular in the regard it is like watching F1 cars, people pine over the turbo era, they cry about how V10's and V12's were the "best", some say the V8 cars from the vintage era, was where true F1 was at the glory days. Just like motorcycle racing, it climbs that ladder of technology quickly and what may be fast today may not be fast tomorrow.

I get the feeling that the next few years will usher in "hybrid" gas/electric race bikes, if not a full on electric contender in MotoGP. The industry has spoken time and again about moving to alternative fuels and means to create power... I'm enjoying motorcycle racing in all of its glory right now because I may be one of the last generations that got to not only watch Irish Road Racing, GP500, and Superbikers when they were being broadcast, but I may see those very things relegated to the history books in my lifetime. Things are moving really fast right now, and the glorious sound of a V5, just like in 1985 and Group B cars being possible to witness, is still possible to see, to hear, to nearly reach out and touch. This may be the last era in human history we get to see the fastest of the dino blood burners, and I say we embrace it instead of debate it.
43
I'm increasingly intrigued by the argument against electronics. Just like the turbocharged F1 era where qualifying setups boasted 4 digit numbers in horse power, and the boost numbers resembled hydraulic pressure, GP500 is gone with the wind, and it's not coming back. The sooner we embrace the death throes of gasoline engines, and racing them at top level, the sooner we see just how high the peak can be and how fast the apex can be run before we are beyond  the curve and watching the end of petrol burners as we know it. I for one embrace the changes (quite a departure from my previous opinions on the matter a few years ago) and I am excited to see just how fast MotoGP gets around world circuits before the plug ends up being pulled on this wild ride in human history that we know as motorcycle racing.

Off Topic / Re: Can you turbocharge a 2-Stroke?
February 22, 2017, 08:15:44 PM
No problem.  ;) I'm quickly working my way into being a "turbo guru" with the information I've acquired over the years. Found and explored just about anything and everything in the last few years with forcing air and fuel into engines. Even building the "be all, end all" turbo bike of all turbo bikes that isn't a 'busa.

Probably poorly translated...
