Not seeing any servers on line at all right now GPB or MXB, just me?

Well done Yan   ;D

I'll be away all weekend so alas won't be able to make this last one, enjoy  :)

Quick work Hawk  :) Just done a few laps on .8b and the problem bit in turn 6 is gone for me. Did find a few new problems though, in the breaking area into turn 1 the back end gets kicked up and between turn 7 and 8 seems a bit deadly. Also some of the other random bumps seem a bit sharp but generally it's fine.

Here it is, setup shown in video from Blackheart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbQHcZWQLzc I adjusted the rake and swing-arm length back to stock to speed the steering back up, but it grips well and worth a try.

As said the only problem bump I can think of is turn 6, the right hander of the Jim Clarke Esses, had me off lots on both bikes so far but I'm learning to ride around it. Other than that it's fine.

@capedoctor, your front wheel tucks just as you start changing direction and as soon as it grips again it throws you off, the reaction is a bit extreme but I get the same. Jester found a setup from Spa for this bike that stabilises it lots but reduces the turn speed, worth a try. I can't find it right now but I'll link it if I do.

Nick, it seems most find this bike a handful and a half, so why not wrap this champ up and start a fresh on a bike that's more user friendly? Maybe SSP600 or Moto2 for instance. Also might I suggest that we have 2 shorter races instead of 1 longer one maybe? Might give more incentive to keep people interested for race 2 and another go at a race per event. I now you like the tyre wearing aspect but maybe hold the odd long event for tyre management skills. Pity we don't have tyre wear acceleration options.

Also not sure how many on here have raced car sims much but one aspect of it I think this game could benefit from is to have servers setup not just for endless practice but lots of short races, it hardly ever seems to happen. In nearly all car sims on-line public servers it is about 10-15 mins practice, a short qually session and then into a 5-10 min race, then rinse and repeat. It can be really popular. This is one thing I've found odd about the GPB on-line racing scene, but I know it's a bit of a pain without the ability to join and wait for the next race during a race, as you can with all car sims I can remember.
The above could make race practice far less of a chore and better prepare people for riding races.

Just my thoughts to make the best of what we have  :)

I did enjoy this race, it's a sweet track but with teeth. 1st 2 laps was holding Nick and Yan behind me until I made stupid error in the bus stop (that's what race pressure from behind does for ya  ::) ), I think 3 riders then got past me. Then settled in to chase 3rd place Fin down and managed to pass him. Went by Nick who had wiped out on Eu Rouge at some point and knew Yan would be long gone. Only made one other mistake after that but had enough of a lead to 3rd to keep 2nd. I think we can give the win to Yan, I suspect he simply missed a checkpoint is all (that check point feature really does not belong in a race at all).

Spa is a track I know well from car sim racing, which helps loads. As Hawk says though you gotta learn to ride for the duration and forget hot laps for these events. I tend to try for the best times until a day before the event and then just go for consistency however slow that might be. Managed to find a probably not so fast but reliable line through Eu Rouge, so learnt it and during the race stuck to it, although I knew it could be done faster that came with a much greater risk of a crash. Sometimes you'll also find that just calming down and not pushing every where can make you faster over a lap, surprises me sometimes.

So I think it's grats to crazy fast and consistent Yan for the win and cheers to Nick for the event  :D

With G27 and 25 wheels the only thing that gave up for me after years of use were the pedal pots, but I managed to find replacements. Those wheels are built pretty well.

    • When you crash hard, sometimes the bike ends up behind a low wall / guardrail: if it respawns there, you could be trapped. Maybe we can just live with that: it was a big crash, you're out of the race.

+1 with this, consider it as your bike is damaged beyond use or your dead, dying or at least on way to hospital  :)

(somehow: do not take into account missed checkpoints in races, do count them in quali/testing/warmup)

More detailed ways of applying it wouldn't hurt, but simply off would be fine if it's too complicated to set per session, as already said there's other ways of dealing with it.

Makes sense for fast lap records but only that, I guess we need a server option to turn it off as required as it seems a bit much to ask for racing and hotlap versions of tracks, fix one thing and break others eh  :(

Well it's made on purpose, otherwise you'll have plenty of people cutting corners and chicanes ...

Really? I find it hard to believe that that's an intended feature to stop cutters  :o I've never before played a racing game were a lap is discounted due to cutting, too many times the cut could be due to third party actions. Other solutions did include adding track objects to stop or at least deter it, detect cutting and highlight it (to stop hot lapping cheaters) or, like in real life check during or after an event and penalise when it actually matters, the last option being my desired method for this game too.

if while crashed the bike misses a checkpoint, you'd lose a lap during a race.

This should be fixed too then, if you run off track and don't fall it sounds like this would also still be an issue  :) I'm just not keen on bike teleportation as a solution at all.
