Support / Re: menu issues

I've had this a few times in MXB. A quick fix is to enable 'hide the taskbar' in the desktop settings (of windows) but a restart will actually fix it.

+1 for SyncBack, works very well. Will be even better when the next update comes out to allow us to have infinite paints available from the bike select screen..

Interesting. Pib, is this the same problem that plagues MXB when online with deformation? Would be amazing if it's resolved!

MaX, good question with the dead zone. I'd also be interested to know. Its a shame you can't load up mxb tracks in gpb to find out..

If someone wants to maintain one here, I will maintain one over on the MXB board. That way we can copy each other's latest additions and it's twice the input from contributors.

I recommend starting a thread asking people to provide objects in a set format as hawk says via posting. We can copy each posts link and preview image (provided as a link to save list space) into the first post and organise it into categories like 'trees', 'buildings', 'barriers', stands' etc..

Sound good? Whoever fancies taking on the task feel free to PM me and we can discuss the rest :)

You know, if it looks at the horizon then climbing the big hill at Washington, or Mount St Helen on the custom track Glen Helen which has what must be a 40* climb give or take would leave the rider looking at the tank.. By compensation I mean a way of using the terrain to maybe influence the view for hills and decents.

Sounds like a good update. Is this going to be ported to MXB? And if so will there be some compensation for big hill climbs I.e Washington, Maryland?

Lighting is apparently coming at some point. Right now you can add self emission attribute to an object to exclude it from being shaded to fake lighting I.e stadiums. I doubt lighting will ever be linked to a physics based object like a car or bike but I hope piboso proves me wrong there.

As for moving objects, there is currently no ability to make a scenery object move. I pitched to piboso the idea of being able to make objects rotate, you could do a lot with this like rotating cloud domes, windmills, hot air balloons and helecoptors that follow a big circle in the sky, all kinds, but have yet to get a response.

But other than that yes, it would be cool ;)

I'd love to check it out, but unfortunately Blender can't import ASCII FBX files, they need to be binary. Maybe we should start another topic for track objects ;)

I haven't tried much yet with transparent parts. My first experiment with a tree didn't work out well. I've only discovered that faces need to be double sided, or else only one is visible. Plus the alpha blending part needs some figuring out to work well. I may have another go at it later.

I do my object building in Sketchup, which I know some people look down on, but it's very easy to use. Once you have a texture sheet made up with everything you need to cover the structure, building the structure itself is very quick to do

I only look down on SU because I'm a former user. I used it for a long time, struggling. Once you know the basics of something like blender, it's liberating.

Anyway, AFAIK you can't fix the alpha bleeding issue in SU, I tried for two years on and off.. Good luck though. I've just about managed to fix it in Blender, at least to the point where is barely noticeable.

Anyway, sorry to derail the topic!

I should say that they're all still work in progress. I've only recently figured out a good method of generating these and I'm learning as I go. But these have all been produced in the space of a week or so, so the process is pretty productive so far

Do share.. We could do with a universal objects repository for both gpb and mxb modders. Trees have been the stumbling block for most people who choose to settle for awful 2d attempts with alpha clip / bleed issues. Would love to see what you've come up with..

Sorry guys, didn't realise anyone else was waiting for this.. I guess it makes sense, it's something every modeler or bike importer should be interested in :)
74
Great, and no rush.. Don't prioritize it over other important things, I think I was the only one interested in using it from the community anyhow :)

Hey Pib..

* GPB / WRS / MXB: completed work on shape blend support, and modified FBX2EDF to convert it ( integration in the 3dsmax export plugins coming later )

Could you please explain how to do this using Blender? Thanks :)
