I think it was Hawk who suggested that the on line game needed a way to discourage foolish heroics. As in real life if an overtake is too risky you should drop back and wait for a better opportunity and ride with the intention of staying upright to the end and ride within the limits of the bikes handling at any given time.

Falling should have some sort of consequence, this may be especially true once the physics/bikes are fixed and you only have yourself to blame otherwise i can see this all starting again with the next beta.

Maybe the respawn needs a 'hardcore' option in the server rules setup to give hosts some flexibility with several different rules and experiment a bit. Maybe developing the server rules options is a better long term solution.

From the degree of discussion the respawn seem to have risen to the top of the 'must fix' list

So.. Is all this inevitable?

God help me lol  ::)

I think its luck of the draw, but i would suggest going through the ISO burn bit from the MS website (amazingly painless)  first just in case windows update is as screwed as mine was. Then use this to update from inside your current install.
TIP:You do not want the 'N' options of the OS it will offer when you go to burn - these are feature limited to please the EU and you must choose the version that matches your current OS i.e. Home or Pro

The actual update process seems stable and fully automated once you finally get it started though.

The spare PC i tried it on was a fresh win7 install with all updates and it still had a few 'hiccups'. If updating i would suggest you do a normal system clean up and uninstall of most third party applications first then re-install fresh onto win10 though.

Good news GPB runs fine, quite well actually for a test system with built in graphics :) and the GPX controller detected and installed straight away.  :)

If you like Android/Apple tablet type environments you will like the integrated Store type stuff for music/movies/apps and its not too intrusive if you don't.

Overall, so far,  Win10 seems very responsive, boots quickly, looks nice and seems to have some neat new functions. Even the tile elements integrate nicely with the desktop and it does not feel like you must have a touch screen for it to work - hurrah for the desktop  :)

Not the smoothest process and i was on the verge of using the ISO when the on line update process finally lived up.

2 hours later and win10 is on the spare PC, first impressions are good, all hardware present and correct  :)

Switching off the tracking stuff was actually quite painless, just hit 'custom' during first start.  :)

Apparently it is now loading a service pack!  ???

Now the painful part seeing if all my development software and hardware works OK, not expecting this bit to go well  :(

It does look very lovely though and being a windows phone owner (i know, but i like it as a business phone ::) ) it all feels quite familiar.

If this all goes to rats that the next step, my little box has a genuine MS win7 code sticker on the base is that code all you need for iso install?

What a faff! update error 80240020 and seems to be a big problem for many!  >:(

Somehow beaten win update into finally restarting the download package so i will have wait a couple of hours to see if i have moved forward with the upgrade process.

Glad i am trying this on a 'spare' machine and not my beloved Win7 desktop.

Support / Re: Connection bandwidth setting?

Thanks,

So i guess its like a draw distance setting - instructing the server not to send data for other players data distant from yourself reducing the bandwidth requirement.

So if all the graphic information for rendering is on the local client i.e. bikes/paints/track and so no impact on net bandwidth; LOW probably suffers worst when everyone is bunched up i.e. grid and first corner with fluctuating bandwidth requirement. HIGH would keep the bandwidth requirement more stable during the whole session.

Really wanted a guide of bandwidths vs game setting and any pros/cons for this setting

i.e. for downstream bandwidth

LOW = <5 M (typical for copper telecom)

MED > 5M <50M  basic fiber.

HIGH >50 high bandwidth fiber.

With any guidance on effect of ping and up stream bandwidth, i.e. poor ping possibly set to LOW

So how does this setting help the connection?

That depends on how much you want to sacrifice on your end.

???

Just thinking that bandwidth could be anything from dialup to Mbit.

Is this only applicable to hosting then?

I just do not see how the required data could be limited or how it would effect on line performance.  Does it apply to packet sizes or something?

Support / Connection bandwidth setting?

What should i set this to?

What is considered low/med/high bandwidth?

And what impact does it have on the online sim?

Thanks

It will be interesting top see what the corporate and government desktop stance will be with all the data tracking issues. Most companies will not like the idea that their systems data can potentially be harvested by a third party. I am assuming that MS have forced openings in any installed firewall software or will a third party firewall put a stop to it?

Thanks, I think  ???

If Y is vertical, is X across the bike or in line (front to back) ?

Looking at the acceleration outputs from my DAC's on the scope it is not obvious. Just deciding if project 'Super tri-axial acceleration seat shaker' is practical  ;) ;D

Can someone confirm the bike geometry axis?

Y is vertical, what about X and Z?

Just tinkering.........  ::)

Don't panic!

Went back to the included demo sound file and it plays OK now  :)

I was looking at the RGV500 file and have no sound with that file  ???

Now to work out how the sound file works.
