Help Setting Up MS-1 Handlebar Controller....

I recently purchased a Yamaha MS 1 Motorsports Controller and a Gen Ps1/2 to USB converter.

Although the Yamaha controller has a few shortcomings, short of building my own, it seemed like the best option.

I have a HP Envy laptop with Windows 8 64-bit. I am running GP Bikes Version 6c.

I hooked up the converter and the controller, and following the automated driver installation the controller registered and functioned as it should. GP Bikes registers the controller and I can calibrate two axis (x - steer left/right) (z - throttle/brake lever) (only analog inputs) and assign controls. Yay!

Now my problem is that the throttle and brake lever are both on the z axis (cannot overlap throttle/brake inputs). Xinput does not work as it registers to 360 drivers (I believe). I have tried a couple of software programs (Pinnacle, x360ce, ds3) and currently I cannot split them up.

I have read on this forum that someone once configured and used this controller, hopefully solving this problem.

Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi D01, welcome to GP Bikes forums. You got yourself a wee bit of fun to set that up right. It will depend how your windows is and what software you will need to run it as you want. It a bit hard to explain but basically you are on the right track with x360ce, but you probably need the xbox360cemu files to run it and also what are known as blockers and spoofers. I will put a software pack together with all of these in it. It early morning and I have work to do first, but I will do it asap for you.

In the meantime maybe the one guy that did get it t work will show up.

Hi again D01, heres the link to the file folder for you in my dropbox

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fph9oip670n0lfg/Controller%20Software.rar?dl=0

Its a rar file so if you need a zip file say or get Winrar.

I put a load of different programs in it to use and test your controller. I hope you know YOU have to edit the ini file for xbox360cemu to get it right. It can be fiddly but should get you up and running. As GPBikes has the 360 xinput plugin use that too, it will help with the setup. You need to get windows seeing that the z axis is like the triggers of a xbox controller, thats your main aim.

I hope this helps you. Let us know.

I also bought the Yamaha MS 1 Motorsports Controller and tried to use the PS2 to PC adapter.
The problem is the clutch and brake analog are being tied to the button 4 and all 3 act like buttons.
The throttle is tied to button 3 and both act like buttons.

The adapter twin usb joystick screen show a Z axis and a R rotation. These are not being used.

So for the solution to use those tools will not work since the adapter is missing 2 analog controls that we need to have this work.

The only solution is to buy the Precision Joystick Controller BU0836 8 analog axes, 32 buttons, hat switch. Take apart the Yamaha MS 1 Motorsports Controller and wire it to this board.
I am still deciding if i want to go this route. I have opened the Yamaha MS 1 and it is easy re assemble.

If you use the BU0836NC and not the A or X it is cheaper but you have to solder the wires to the board. It is so small it would fit inside your MS-1 I think.

I just got a MS-1 controller today (ebay), as well as a PS2->PC converter.  I am confused on the throttle however, it shows up as a button input and not as an analog.  Others have said it shows up as z-rotation, but I cant seem to get that to work.  Is it a on/off switch or analog variable input?  Do I need a different PS2->USB converter?

Thanks in advance!
