I'd have thought the min distance it would would have to be less, but then if its volume it'd be larger. I'll fiddle with it tonight

Its usually the minimum distance for max volume so just put a big value in - 10

If thats not enough you could make a new (louder 16bit mono) wav put it in the folder and change the target in .cfg

Bit weird wording, minimum for maximum, but whatever works. Does this affect the modern type 1+2 riders as well?

After a little fiddle, any value between 0.4 - 0.7 is much better.

I personally would use a value closer to 0.4 for first person riding, and closer to 0.7 for third person as the rider sounds are somewhat muted in this view.
0.47 ish seems a good base for those who want to use both views but not change values each time they change view
