Following the releases from Javiliyors of the new GP500 modpack, I thought I'd try and host a championship.

Results, Dates, and Entrants will be live here, courtesy of Gzehoo
http://gzehoo.cba.pl/gpbikes/gp500/

I've tried to do this before, but I've never really found any machines that I'd like to host, or that got a decent amount of interest with the community.

As the Mod is currently in the 'Beta' Phase, the championship won't be going ahead until all the content is added and the Mod completed, and that is when I'll open entries.

Here is a provisional Calendar and Race Length (50% of original Length) (Subject to Change, no dates as of yet):

Sweet... Hope it happens.  Seems all the championships since I have gotten the game (4 months) just fizzle out and don't end up happening.. R3 cup and stk1000 I thought would be fun but they seemed to die before they even got going.

One more that will sign up! Will you test the test tracks. Is there an estimated start date?

I will test the tracks privately to ensure they're viable/working.

As for a start date, entries will be opening when Javi has fully released the GP500 MOD

Entries OPEN for the 500cc GRAND PRIX CHAMPIONSHIP NOW.

FURTHER INFORMATION

The championship will be using the GP500 Mod by javi, and the Category in use will be the modern 500cc machines, and will be going ahead in the New Year.

Entries are opening now, as I plan to have the Pre-Season Sessions over the winter, (First test at Valencia (Cheste V1.2) as per the real world, and will commence on the weekend of 02/11/2019 and 03/11/2019). Custom Skins, or a championship entry, are not required for the tests, so people can try the bikes and get a feel for if they want to enter.

This method also allows plenty of time for people to develop skins and practice with the machines further.

I will hopefully be uploading these races to YouTube, so make sure you can get round at least 2 laps without crashing. Depending on the Consistency of competitors, the race length may be adjusted. Currently the provisional Race length is at 50% of the real world, (Around 10-12 laps), but this may be either raised or lowered depending on feedback. Personally I'd run 100% length races but I appreciate not all entrants would want to do that.

NOTE: The Aprilia Will NOT be used for this championship. This is  because its lack of power compared to the other bikes makes it so much easier to ride, to the point of which everyone would be using it. The Bike should not be available in the selected category anyway.
(It currently is but Javi said he'd release an update for it)

Please make sure you have a personal skin, or at least a custom number on an existing skin, and ensure that number matches with the selected number on your profile. This makes timekeeping easier, and it also helps when I upload the races to YouTube, as viewers who don't know us can see who is who.

I have tutorials up on my YouTube on how to make Skins, so there really is no Excuse for not doing. I'm sure Javi would provide a template for your chosen machine to sort out as well.

I will gladly put numbers on skins if it is required, found here - https://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=7272.0

Is the points system a recreation of a GP500 era?
I can't really remember how it worked back in the day.  I've a vague recollection of a change in the early 90s but thuoght it was top 10 that scored then, not top 8.

I'm bringing it up because I'd rather we used the current FIM system, with points down to 15th.  I can easily go a whole season outside the top ten, and if I'm having a season-long battle with someone and neither of us are scoring, how will we know who came out on top at the end?   :-\

Backmarkers need the odd point too.   ;D

I am still not sure on how the points will work, at the minute, with the amount of players and stuff, 8 seemed like a good average for all entrants.

Just for reference, the 8 man system is actually the old mid 2000s f1 scoring.
If we get more entries It will be considered.
Also considering a point for fastest laps, and points for clean laps.

As for knowing who came out on top, the results are saved and the championship will go on countback results if there is a tie. (Who finished ahead the most)
