GP Bikes beta7 released:
http://www.gp-bikes.com/?page=news
Release notes:
- a clean installation is strong recommended
- replays and setups are not compatible with the previous versions
Despite the very long wait, this release is not as it was supposed to be. Not a build to be proud of.
The wait was getting too long, so this is something like a "snapshot" of development.
The physics is still work in progress.
So much appreciated PiBoSo!
Thank you.
Thank you very much Piboso.
Thank you very much for the release :)
Thanks!!!!
TY very much 8)
which files do i keep again from documents?
Tested a minute the 125 ... I lost the front in the first three corners...
Thankyou ;D
Can we have a discussion thread please ?? :)
OMG OMG OMG!!!!
Thank you

I will just rename the whole folder to something like "Beta 6c_GpBikes" and then you can pick bits from it (like the license.ini) as required. Basically I will leave 6c installed (just renamed) so it is easy to go back or grab stuff if required. I have Beta 5 like this too.
Thanks PiBoSo, I understand and appreciate what you have done to release it as it stands. Much for us to play with :)

judging by the fact that the original 45 page Beta 7 thread is now only this one, maybe this is it. ::)
QuoteTested a minute the 125 ... I lost the front in the first three corners...
5 crashes within the 1st lap.
Seems we have to redefine our senses....
Will B7 give a go after the last Hotlap session in Valencia. Until that i will sill drive b6c.

45 pages, a lot of it just random "stuff" for want of a better word :P :-X
Also, is it just me or does everything in game seem smaller? (text and menus etc.) I quite like it if it is new :D

Message from a moderator (me) :
please all riders here, WAIT some many hours of playing before complain, and please come here to say also what are the good things in this new beta. I say it because i know exactly the manner the comments come hours after a new beta came. Please take pleasure and ride slowly ;D
First impressions are good. Only a couple laps so far but I'm impressed. Bikes seem much more stable on the brakes to me.
Thanks Piboso!

Same here tested 990 at Victoria, bike seems to turn a lot better on tight corners and the head shakes are not as violent under power :)
Has anybody got MaXHud working in B7? Need my rumble back :(
just checking the date......
......ok not april 1st
nah, just kidding, thanks piboso!
but where has the old thread gone?
I'm found the 600ssp bikes get more lean angle after trail braking, is it only on my mind?
will all the bikes from 6c work in beta 7>?
What should be transferred over ?
Thanks!

Piboso thank you, very beautiful work of animation of the driver, murasama is more stable and the game also
only tried the varese500 so far..
really nice! lots of improvements with the 500cc i like it alot 8)
face palm is back ;D
off track is dangerous 8)
front end is good around slow corners (victoria)
the bike feels awesome on the brakes!
lots more.. great update!
new 500 competitor will be back :-)
My Second impressions;
125_ I do not see big improvements.
500_ Here the work seems great and I congratulate with Piboso.
1000_ Now is different but not bad.
P.S. The knee sliders sound is great and very helpful ;)

a huge thanks for the update,PiBoSo and Co - i'll be spending the next few days/weeks testing it out.

Video comparison of two very similar crashes, beta 6c vs 7, it would seem much more realistic the fall in the new release. :D
Beta 6c
https://www.youtube.com/v/pSy5Qeo2wHg
Beta 7
https://www.youtube.com/v/ORlFk0kXBJ8
Yes the crash and the rider animation looking way better and more realisticly then in B6c.
One for the positive ;D
Has anything been changed regarding height differences in corners? For example the hairpin at mallory park? Can't wait to try tthe new release ;)
QuoteAt the moment they seem to be con0atable so just transfer all bikes form the old to the new :)
Only works in the dry!

Just got back this morning to this wonderful surprise! Beta7 released! ;D 8)
I haven't had chance to test at all yet, but from what I've been reading there are big improvements in a lot of areas. 8)
Hopefully we can now get rid of the "_NDS" tracks but lets test first the stability before I do that; but here's hoping! ;D
I will be testing over the next few days to get a good feel for the improvements before I make any posts here. ;)
Thank you team Piboso! ;D ;D 8)

Thanks PiBoSo and crew, good clean fun my two days off will be well spent on learning to ride ride again.
I love how the game is going, always a challenge and always fun to try something new. Well worth the wait
and greatly appreciated. Again I say thanks and keep up the good work guys.
P.S. Cheers to all the People around here that help make this game the best CYCLE SIM EVER! ;D ;D ;D
Piboso thank you very much for your work.
Greeting
First, thanks for the update Piboso.
I have only tried the 500, I really like the income curve now, you have more control on the back, both out of the curve as entering it.
Nice also the bike and do not skip both the slow corners.
I think it gives core when you want to watch the replay.
;D ;D thanks Piboso !!
very interesting
Wowowow beta 7.... I'm back ;)
its bug?
https://www.youtube.com/v/dKcLQjYR0Mw
and
when turning, compacting turning Radius with using rear brake is not work,
beta 7 has engine torque reaction, where we changing direction of rotation of crahcshaft ? and effect power? and its pivot point?
Thanks Piboso for the update :)

i tried to install b7 just now, but for some reason, when i click on the exe, i get a windows error: 'the file is not compatible with your version of windows. check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x89(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
that is if i just run it as is.
if i try to run it as administrar, i get the following error: "windows cannot find the file gpbikes-beta7.exe. make sure you typed the name correctly and try again."
so, in essence, i simply cannot run the exe for b7.
any ideas as to something i might've missed? :o

Thanks for the new beta. What does this mean? "Engine torque reaction"?
The reaction (as in action-reaction) generated when the engine revs up.
For usual engine layouts (forward rotating crankshaft), when the engine revs up the reaction tends to make the bike wheelie.
That's why in MotoGP bikes (Honda and Yam for sure) have backward rotating crankshafts, so that the reaction when revving up will counter wheeling.
But counter rotating crankshafts need an additional shaft.

Try re-downloading the exe fella, sounds like yours is corrupt.
to capedoctor, like one said it before me, you exe seems to be corupted, try a new donwload.
don't forget to rename the folder piboso, it is in my document because a new install make a new one with the same name
great improvement on 500 and 1000 ( but unfortunately front end is not ok for me, i tried different tracks and sometime i just loose it, just like beta 6 :( ).
125cc not rideable for me, strange because it is the demo bike...
in some tracks i also have the problem that the bike lean only a bit, not every corners but often.
i also noticed exaggerated wheelies. on Varese but a bit too much also on murasama.
this beta without wheelie and front problem would be nice

ahhhhhhh
But modbikes not apply for beta 7 not? They have to be updated to work well
I don't know ^^
I think core crash in replay many times...
how about other player?
Mod Bikes are working but only in dry condition.
To join the HL server you have to install the Mod Bikes into B7. Just copy the bikes folder from B6c to B7.
For the 125 and Moto3 the Beta7 is a step back imho because the rider fell of the bike for no reason in some corners. :-[
Feels and looks like the rider hits a bar crossing over the track....
Only my 2 cent after riding both bikes same track each after each compared to B6c.
The GP1000 did well with B7 :)
In each new beta or upgrade, they have always updated the rest of motorcycles, because they did not work properly, because many things are changed in the new beta.
Probably soon creators of other motorcycle update the physical to work well with this new Beta, but actually use without being updated to the Beta I do not see logic.
Yet the pondre although no use to enter the servers;)
Edit: By the time a social race with the Muramasa ??? :P :P :P
Edit: Piboso, fix the problem core.exe for beta 26?
Would be better to keep it simple for now.. No? Use the default bikes until we know more?

Yeah, might be the best way so far.
I am pretty happy with beta 7 for now. Good work to me. As Piboso already mentioned maybe a little to less despite the long waiting time but anyway. Still nice (SMOOKE, yeah!! ).
Two little questions I have:
- I jusr coppied my license file from beta 6c to beta 7: is that the right way to do it.
- Seems like I cannot connect to online races: getting a "missing bike" message. Or are thoe servers still using beta 6c?
Cheers!
P.S.: Beta 6c helmets seem to be working with no problems.

I most crash in replay GP250 and JerezV0.9 (sorry for using mod) in multi play.
I opened replay core crash 95%...
PS. and sometimes in replay, graphic is flicking (its in Victoria too)
motonline server use mod bike from beta6, so copy your bikes folder to the new gpbikes/gpbikes/ folder
the only crash i have since last night :
it happens only when i change the bike and come back in the same track, it happens every time but that's a problem that happens with every new beta and become less frequent along the time.
The 500cc is really good, i tested aprilia and cagiva, wow, for me thats perfect.
Cadwell park is a very hard track for gpbikes and now we can ride on it full throttle.
wowowow

Bikemod FTP have been updated. Now there are only thé stock bikes.
Last night we were racing 600's on Monza and I had no idea B7 was out. So I was playing the old version. So far Piboso would implement a warning to update the game with a new version. It's missing this time.

Yes. Guess we've been on the same server recently.
Like a lot about the update. Only really seems to be core.exe . Only been testing with default bikes on stock track.
I think modded tracks and bikes need to be updated. This doesn't suprise me that much cause looking at the changelog lots of things involving trackdata and bikedata have been modified. So I don't get why people keep mocking about addons not working yet. Anyway. Good thing is that helmets still do as far as I've checked the beta6c helmet models (AGV, Shark, Scorpio and so on).

I haven't seen any pattern really... It seems to happen very randomly. I will try to take a look at it. Many times replay worked fine, but also had crashes out of nowhere. Also noticed that there is the odd core, when hitting track limits sometimes (yes even on 'stock' Victoria).
EDIT:I seem to be able to replicate the core. Joining a public server, doing some laps, then entering replay, selecting other ride, then scrolling in the time bar seems to be forcing a core.exe pretty reliably.
Generel feedback after first 2 hours of beta7 for me:
Pro:
I like the overall feeling of the bike, especially on the brakes and on corner entry. Also the fast transition from lean to lean seems to be much better. Bike physics / virtual rider on banked corners seems to MUCH improved because that was the main frustration point for me in b6. Having an odd and seemingly random lowside just killed the fun for me in b6. Now I can run steady and the behaviour of the bike is much more predictable. Also the behaviour on corner exits seems to be better, there seems to be a more realistic way of controlling cornering arc with throttle.
Con:#
Corner exit on throttle seems to be improved but imo the transition from total grip to zero grip (losing the rear) seems to be not smooth enough. It seems like 100%grip, 100%grip, 100%grip, no grip. I would like to see the transition of the rear wheel from total grip into some sort of (moderate) powerslide more manageable, especically with small lean angles. Please do not get me wrong, I do not want to be able to powerslide like Stoner effortlessly. It should still be hard take a lot of practice. But even with small lean angle the bike pretty much spins out on me before I know it.
Overall, I am liking beta7 so far very much :) thank you also for the decision to release beta7 earlier than you would have liked. It gives you a good amount of feedback for the next steps.

Yes, I get it. But whats the point of an effect if we barelly get to see it?
When the bike isn't moving and you apply throttle the smoke should be visible.
Here's an example. Towards the end of the video bike gets warmed up.

Hawk.
My thoughts about this new beta:
Physics are better know, front problems are solved and slide the rear is smoother.
Up/down hills are still weird.
Front tire has a lot of grip braking, even trying to low side on purpose is hard to get it. FOR ME too much.
Of tracks bumps is a great idea, but the bike react very estrange on them. Anyway I prefer like this.
Wet conditions feels strange.*I tried only 60% wet, varese, victoria* Wet tires where burning after some corners. And Slicks on wet react super strange, not about grip, its about front movements without leaning at all.
I can't hear the slider fx sound, on both 3rd person view and onboard
bikes,
Murasama and varese looks good!
Maybe a little more of smoke for varese? It's too light and on very low revs.
125p/cup seems not to be tweaked (same reactions as before, no smoke at all)
Online,cores
as everybody else, core every time y try to watch a replay (I don´t know if it also happens while testing alone)
Cores while rejoining with a different bike.
Cores every 2/3 laps on servers with many people or too much time open.
helmet movements are not sent in online, other don't see if you move the head.
I have a question that maybe some of you can answer (Piboso, Max,...). As in B6, I can't shift down while I rear braking, even using the clutch with makes the gearbox "free". Is there any mechanical reason for this in real life?, it's a bug? I think on it and I just don't get it, maybe you can explain.
Hope this post is helpful. The overall feeling is good and I'm enjoying it a lot!! Thanks for the work Piboso.
maybe modding of smoke will be possible one day, then one could apply a different smoke for a different type of bike/engine?
that would be cool :D

Hmm sounds like a bug to me. I assume you had the throttle closed and you're not using shift help (shift help, not auto shift), right ?

Anything to do with Xinput?
Interesting that you use the rear brake whilst down shifting.. I need to swap some controls around to try it.. Right stick forward is clutch and back is rear brake.. I use rear brake mid corner.

yep thats right, only clutch help for starts (so no problem there), no throttle. Without taking the clutch It could be possible to have problems, but using clutch...
Motogp bikes don't use clutch and they use for sure rear brake sometimes. It should work

No throttle + clutch it should downshift.
I recall that in the past Piboso already said that the gearbox simulation needs some improvement ...

Recent motogp don't use clutch to downshift, older ones did use it as far as I know.
Notice also that they may not be downshifting while rear braking: from what I've heard, rear brake is used only mid-corner (as BOBR6 said) or exiting a turn on the throttle.
But I agree, it sounds like a bug in GPB.
