Title: Helmet camera support ?
Post by: HornetMaX on January 04, 2015, 09:43:39 PM
In beta6 changelog:
Quotenew: helmet camera support

Anybody knows what's that ?

I remember at the time I thought it was (finally) a camera (in replays) close to the rider pov, but ...

I don't think it was ever put in. I assume it is like MX Bikes has, that in replays you can watching the helmet from a GoPro type position on the top. There was also I remember reading something about photos for beta 6 that was later taken out but never commented on what it would have been,

Rain light support too?

Did ''support'' mean that its do-able for a modder?

For the rain light yes, it may be up to the modder to use it.
But for the helmet cam no. Even if it was "just" a gopro-style cam it would be nice to have. But I can't see it in the replays.

It should be possible to add a replay helmet cam, creating a "camera" object in the helmet scene and exporting it.
The Y axis should be used as the "forward" direction.

Ugh, so it means that the camera will or will not be available depending on the creator of the helmet ?
And that the camera will/will not there depending on which particular helmet is being used ?

It should be or is it possible now to add this camera during replay ?

If it works with beta6c, should we modifiy ini file or cfg file of helmet ?

The only thing needed is to add an object called "camera" to the scene and export the helmet.

Please note that helmet camera support will change in the next release, to allow for easier editing, multiple cameras and custom FOV.
