General Discussion / core.exe test track

This track has been made to test core.exe with track model.  It very basic.  What I have done is make a single large poly and paint a track on this poly, I have used only TRKASPH naming.i cant name the grass or three be more polys.  There can't be any bumps with single poly (can there?) and there cant be any holes with a single poly (can there?) I've included the 3dmax file and textures. there no dynamic surface either. It bare bone basic track, cant make it any simpler

People report core on all track made by all authors, including my tracks, this should be a conclusive test if it track models or a collsion code problem. there just simpley cant be mesh problem causing core.exe on a single poly, so it could be good test for future reference for track makers.

If no one get a core there it has to be how the polys and quads are joined causing random core's, I don't think it possible to make  a good track without using mulit poly or quads,

I can't open the max file, it a newer version of max than I have,  can you export a .3ds and texture file?

you'll probily need the original files before there exported to EDF format,  there might be an EDF import plugin for 3dmax or other software somewhere on the net.

thanks, probily the best track i done so far, taken along time to figure it all out but think im pretty close to making a good track.


I've had CTD while working on thruxton now the file corrupt and im back to a basic version again, so annoying as it was\nearly finished

Snetterton all done, download on the first page.

smoothed afew problem corners,
added new models
added .shd files
fix cameras
redone marshals
added BSB textures


No animation and no timing on the stats page....  but everything been done the same as before. Im confused by this but that don't take much.

snetterton just uploading. I cant see any time in the stats, but my 125 time don't show on philp island either so im guessing there a problem with online stats?


Whitham said it wasn't worth trying to fix tracks until stable physic had been release,but me being me  spent the last 6 months smoothing a lot of tracks cos the game was unplayable at the time. I don't really wont to try any of them at the moment just in case there crap again.

Hi RBp.

I agree those corners are bad, but the second corner is okay if you take a different line, and the last corner is okay is you take it steady. I know when we're racing we like to be able to take the corners at race speeds, but until the physics are properly sorted, we'll just have to put up with these problems.

However. Having said the above, if you can improve those corners in time for the race, that would be great mate! Appreciate you trying to sort these problems out in time. Thank you RBp. ;D 8)

yeah the new beta not been kind to track authors, Snetterton played fine before with the 125cc, track model finished just got the marshal and camera file left. Had a quick brb for the GP

2nd corner and last one are horrid now on beta5b with the 125cc,  I've made these better but I might have it finished in time for the race, I've wasted a lot of time trying to animation to work again with no success
