125cc vs 1000cc on Victoria 1st corner ()

Hi all,

Victoria track, 1st corner (Doohan corner, love Mick): with the 125cc I can fly by with 207Kmh as lowest speed during that corner.
With the 1000cc I have to lower the min speed a lot (something like 170Kmh).

OK, a 1000cc is much heavier than a 125cc, but still ... does it look normal to you ?

Yep...

I think that is alright. Had my RS 125 and R1 on a track day together, went from one bike straight to the other, and to be honest the difference is just that much!
Not sure if it is precisely what you said in terms of km/h but the difference in reality should be pretty close. Don't forget though that you can take the corner with the 125cc bike in game without breaking and almost full throttel while the 1000c bike has to lose some speed due to braking, so there obviously should be a bigger gap than when both had the same way to take the corner...

Yeah but even arriving at 200Kmh with the 1000cc (i.e. same conditions as the 125cc) I do have to brake a lot, so the braking phase prior to the turn (with the 1000cc) doesn't seem to be the factor.

Smaller toroid radius = faster in turns.

Just for the record, i just did the corner with the 1000cc and managed a 195 km/h at the slowest point in the corner and 205 on the fastest...

Better than me then :) but 195 is still well under what I (and hence you for sure) can do with the 125.

You mean the tire toroid radius, I guess. But that should let you to lean faster, it shouldn't affect the speed in the turn, AFAIK. Am I wrong ?

I think a difference of 12 km/h is pretty awesome, after all thats ((195-207)/207) only about 5%. Meaning the 1000cc is only 5% slower than the 125cc in that corner. Of course it all depends on setup and stuff, but i can tell you the gap between my R1 and RS125 is definitely wider...
