Just wondered if anyone else has "pimped" up their controller? Or is this just a girl thing?

I'm not here very often these days as I am very busy elsewhere but I do pop in regularly to read the posts and keep up with things. Still practising & enjoying gpbikes offline a lot though.

Best to all and I hope the leagues go well for you guys.  :)

Less than it cost me to keep my ex-boyfriend in cigarettes and late night curries that's for certain..!   :P

Whatever happened Rob? One minute she was the love of your life and you were going to give up motorbikes to fund the bottom drawer and now you would pimp her given half a chance..whatever happened to those pub lunches, morris dancing classes and romantic walks in countryside Robbo?  ;)

The path of true love can be as mysterious as it is ethereal and divine.

Talking of ducati fanboys..

I think I might have got a bit carried away with this..  :-*

Joking apart though I would much rather have a full on bike controller system (like DD's and others) to pimp up..! Now that would be a bit self-indulgent. Especially in a yamaha speed-block design in fluorescent   pink.. :P

Great work grT, you should go into business!!! People pay big bucks to have modded controllers these days.

As for over indulgent, I will be offering my systems with options for woteva parts you want to use, its all about ow much you want to spend and I would like to do manufacturer models, which will be a must as I just got back from the bike show and all major manufacturers PR and marketing execs for UK were interested in using them for shows, so with luck things are looking up.

Seriously though grT you would be surprised on the response I think if you advertized you can do such PIMPin work for others?

Keep up the great designs, wots next?

Thanks DD. This is not in your league DD but I just did my first home-brew copy of a Scuf controller. With rear mounted buttons and paddles etc. I did it carefully as I am not that experienced with soldering and it worked o.k. first time. I cannot believe how much Scuf controllers charge for a paint job and a bit of soldering, gluing, drilling and installation of a couple of paddles. If you have the basic tools and equipment it is surprisingly straightforward to do the work..it really is.

Compared to what you are doing though DD this really is "child's-play".

Continued respect DD.

Love the custom work, are they vinyl prints?

The reason you can charge for work is that your abilities place you outside of the 99% of people who typically struggle with 'flat pack' furniture. You can do it to a competent level, they either can't or won't so they have to pay someone who can if they want it :) Big market for real 'custom' stuff in the console market, just need to know the trends that the 'hip' kids are following. :)

I have to agree with H, and you really should give yourself a lot more credit grT. Your work is real clean and you have a professional attitude to what you do. Your work is in the same league as mine, mines not all that hard and I've been doing it years, plus Im an old fart and you is still a lil wipper snapper lol. Joking aside, I like your work and it is along one of the things I wanted to offer people, not the pimpin bit but additional buttons and analog axis too, but I think it is something thats really right up you alley. Thanks for all the praise but this thread is all about your work and its time for us to praise you.

Have fun pimpin

I guess so H but this is certainly not "rocket science" on my part. It's very basic & straightforward modding work. Just a bit of fun for yours truly really.

The decals are actually motocross quality laminated decal prints. Exactly the same specification as used on real life mx bikes that have to put up with all weathers, mud, rain, sleet, UV rays and frequent jet-washing.. these are much more resistant to wear and tear than for example the decals you can typically purchase from Ebay sellers and video gaming shops. They're much, much tougher cookies by comparison to the normal type of decals. That's why I chose them so they would not wear out or slip with normal use. Really you can install them onto a controller and just use them without laquering over them. They should be very hard wearing just by doing that but I chose to laquer over them as well for added protection and enhanced appearance.

Thanks for the compliments guys but just having a bit of fun really as I like customising & painting things. One thing I noticed is slight differences in colour choices and finish can make a big difference. My fifth attempt is I think the best of the 5 I have done so far..more care & patience with this one and deeper coats laquer.
