Hi guys.

Lost my brilliant YouTube video downloader/converter because of the ransom virus hit that I had and I cannot remember what it was named....... So I'm just wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction for a great free Youtube  video downloader/converter?

Thanks.  ;)

keepvid.com for the occasional need.

If you download often, video DownloadHelper for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/) works very well.
I only use it as downloader, if I need converting I use handbrake.

That's the only one I've used, and only a few times but it seems good.

Nice one, especially that you can enter a start and end point for recording.

Handbrake looks like a very nice piece of kit for conversion work Max! Nice one.  ;)

Can you use Handbrake to tie two part videos together to create one whole video out of the two parts?

Also very impressed with Clipconverter as well.... Very fast with plenty of options.

Yep, it's little beauty (and it's free and ad-free).

Don't think so. But you can find plenty of tiny tools to do that. Google "mkv join" or something similar.
If you want to go full blown, you may try avidemux: but the nterface is fugly.
