Tyre types.... some explanation needed

hi all
of course, i know the basic differences between a hard and soft, wet or dry tyre, but i see some bikes have the option of a 'Hard-Soft' and 'Soft-Hard' tyre choice as well.
these latter types are new to me, it's the first time i've heard of them. can someone shed some light for me, what the differences between those are...?

Dual compound tyres Cape-man.

Hard-Soft implies hard left and soft right sided tyres and vice versa. Very good choices at some circuits. You need to monitor the wear rates at l/r/middle during a run and then decide if a dual compound Tyre would benefit.

Daytona with an Endurance bike is a classic example

would these be similar to the asymmetrical tyres which are mentioned in MotoGP sometimes, designed with specific circuits in mind?
