opening ports

What ports should I open on my router in GPB?

Napalm Nick

I recommend Dover and Calais, though they are mostly shut at the moment.

A very quick search of the forum using the searchbox and the word "ports" results in this:

GP Bikes uses UDP ports 10500 and 10510 for network protocol.

Quicker to find than writing your question  ::)

i've noticed that the default port for beta6 is 10501, and for b7b, it's 10500
i assume either of these are ok, then?
i haven't tried to connect to a server with b7 yet, although i did try and set up a server for the SA guys last night, but my fellow countryman had logged out before then, so it was just me on - hopefully soon we can have some decent online race for the local lads, so far only 3 of us, but it's a start ;)

Napalm Nick

Do both Cape. You will need it anyway if you are trying to host a server for your bretheren.

I tried doing the ports, setting bandwidth to high(It was on low), but still stuck on connected :(. Server with 4 people in. Would love just hearing other bikes on the track. This game is so awesome but with no way to really challenge myself I get bored of it after quite some time. Even a ghost bike to race against myself when no-one is online or if for people like me who can never join a server.

We will try with SA guys in the time that comes from now and hopefully that will work.

I got another guy from SA of the http://www.shadowracingrsa.net/ forums. So we can maybe make 4 people from SA

Napalm Nick

Sad to hear mate. But yes you must try with people nearer to you to see if that helps. And again, double check everything like your firewalls. Out of interest did you install everything during the installation, the redist and registered Url protocol etc? Irrelevant but interesting just in case.

Yes I installed everything and ticked everything. Also double checked my firewall already. Checked ports again. Bummed :(. Yesterday I actually got in a server 2 or 3 times. A few nice laps then core.exe crash.

I honestly don't know what the cause could be as I have moved from a Fixed DSL Line to LTE-A internet service which means if it was my service provider or something to do with my internet it must have been resolved now... which it isn't.

I think only Piboso would have a probable cause for this.

Cape - was this a typo? Or are you opening wrong port?

QuoteIMPORTANT: GPB by default uses UDP ports 10500 and 10510 for network protocol. If you have a firewall (and, by the way, you should), you must open theses ports. How ? it depend son your firewall. Google is your friend.

The fact you got in once or twice probably means your end is all correct. You must test with your countrymen to see if the problem lessens. I think there is evidence that Beta 7 is causing longer than normal connection times already so keep your eye out for updates.

Nick, no, not a typo, and it's something that was default - in other words, i had never made any port changes previously. this is why i mentioned it, as it is different from what you mentioned earlier.
also, that setting was what i was using with b6, and it never prevented me from joining a server, as i did several times, but my issue of hanging on 'connected' screen usually happened when there were several others on the server, hence me never being able to join a race.
i had hardly any problems joining an empty sever, the issue was really only when others were on as well.
obviously, this negates the entire point of being online, which is why i have been reduced to offline only, much as in dareaper's case.
anyway, we will try a local session over the weekend, hopefully, and provide feedback.
i feel this is something PiBoSo should address at some point. as the only real competition and enjoyment of this sim can only be found online, those of us with this problem are essentially left out to dry, with no real chance of joining any online events.
this, along with the dev's refusal to even allow for a ghost bike, means we end up man alone with no-one to race against. as you can see, not a great position to be in, and makes it real hard for me to sell this sim to others who might be interested.

But I don't understand why you say Beta 6 default was 10501 - where are you getting that mate?

Agree online is very important, you probably haven't seen many cores because they are happening online mostly and it appears evident that B7 is worse for it than B6. And I reckon it is being looked at  ;D just keep an eye out for updates.

I really hope you guys have some better luck joining a SA server. Let us know.

Edit "...and it appears evident that B7 is worse for it than B6" - maybe not, Victoria is now a Dynamic track so cores are, er...inevitable as yet.

as far as that setting of 10501, that is the setting in my ini file, and i have never made any change there, so that is what it had by itself, with no interference from me....
which is why i mentioned it here, as it's different from what it 'should' be?
so, to clarify, that is the port setting in my b6 ini file. as opposed to the setting in my b7 ini file, which is the correct one of 10500
why the difference? i have no clue, mate - again, when i noticed mine was different from what was mentioned here, i decided to speak up about it in an attempt to figure out why the difference....
the only ini changes i've made to date have been of a graphical nature, no changes to port settings whatsoever....

Cape - its well spotted mate, thanks for explaining, I like to keep on top of things server related to aid me in my evil event plans.

Edit: Aha 10501 was the old Beta (6 and below) Master server port  ;)

Excuse me, I have read the whole post but the translator of google does not help me much.

I tried to open the ports because sometimes I get a "lost CONNECTION" screen and another screen that always stays in "concectando".

Now open UDP ports 10500 and 10510 and not let me in on any server. Also I have to open port 10501?

I have to do something else in the game or just changing my router?
