Front sprocket animation

Is it possible to animate the front chain drive sprocket ?

I think you can not rotate about an axis. I used an effect that simulates movement, but actually does not move.

Your blur effect Manu is also quite brilliant as it must use far less graphical power as it is not a 3D movement?

If it looks the same I think it is brilliant idea.
