So, yes, how about that...

I'm born with 2T engines, and that's the only sound that give me goosebumps since i had my first DTMX 125 more than 30y ago...
And my heart is attached to the 350 RDLC engine forever.

But, we have to look at the future and the future is electric for driving system. At least it looks like because even a Hydrogen system produce electicity at the end, for the engine.

So, as what happened in my Prius, we will have to get used to whistling engine and silent races... Or maybe, as in the Pike's Peak race, they will force to have some kind of noise ? (at Pike's Peak its for security reason).

But, hey, after looking at the presentation with "Super-Capirossi" (still fresh this one !!!), i think this bike is beautiful.
Hope to catch some races this year even if i'm not buying their MotoGP video pass.
Maybe Brno IRL in 2019 (not 2018) to be close to the track and listen/see. Reminds me of Tron a little bit for the ones who knows, so futuristic...   ???

And you guys, what do you think of that ?

I think the nicest looking electric bike proposed so far;

How about no for now... :P

Leave the Batteris in the cars ;D

That Honda does look very nice however, Much better than the current things on offer.

Do we have the choice ?   ;D

We can continues to say no but its coming, they going to do it... We might even be obige to have this kind of system in the next 10y to enter the main cities on every country. (talking about what i now, in France, look in Paris when pollution time, you need a special sticker on your brand new car/bike to be able to pass otherwise you good for electric buses, electric subway or car'lib or even bike that you rent at the parking where you have to stop... Even my 2014 Pan European which is Euro3 - pollution rate - is prohibited when high pollution time in big cities...)

So, little by little we have to adapt... Best proof of intelligence is adaptation. And i don't want to stay dum too long  :P

Oh it's coming, no doubt about it...

Just not yet. Let us live the screaming dream of an engine for as long as possible.

I am huge fan of electromobility. Do I like elctric motorcycles? Yes and no.
Yes because they are fast, have instant torque, are quiet.
No, because they are heavy, they have lithium ion batteries that are not so ecologic, and dont have that sound.

But honestly I think that loud exhaust pipe is only to attract other people attention, because when I ride a motorbike most of the sound is wind noise. So I dont care really much about it. I dont really like the sound of Formula E cars. But I love the sound of electric motorcycle that sounds like a jet.

Find the nearest cliff and make it disappeared. Please.. Lithium is dirty as hell. You really wanna buy a bike with no soul? What is next? Autonomous motorcycles? I want to ride a bike that roar and feels alive. I love racing because I love the noise! I will never twist a throttle of a e-Bike. I don't care how fast it goes! but I do love the look of most E-bikes! ;D

Formula E is just a bunch of oversized RC cars. It is so cringy. ::) :-\

First of all I didnt say above that electric vehicles are so ecologic as they are supposed to be. Anyway I strongly disagree with the first video posted because as the researches proved the CO2 has the lowest effect on global warming. For some reason it was  adopted as a indicator of ar pollution. Keep in mind that most of the coal powerplants have a set of high effective filters that must limit the NO2, SO2 as well small particles to minimum and it is easier to controll powerplan emission that hundreds of old diesels or old cars. I take as an example my country. Poland is called the junkyard of europe where most of the cars are about 10 years old. Most of them are old diesels that produce a lot small particles and NO2. No one controls it. During the night time there is overproduction of energy so no matter if the energy is produced from coal or renewable surces something must happen with this energy. The coal powerplant can not be shut down just with the switch when there is no need for energy.

I agree with argument that minig the metals needed for lithium ion batteries causes big environment degradation. But also keep in mind how many oil ship or mining station leaks there were in the past? How much they have degraded the environment and also that to find new sources of oil some countries want to dig in Arctica what may also have a huge impact on environment. Most of the lithium ion battheries are up to 80% recyclable and unless someone throws the batteries out it is ok.
Getting the energy to fuel the car is another aspect. Mining the oil, transporting it to refinery, than to the gas station, everything uses much more energy than mining the coal and transporting it to powerplant. Thats why I say that overall balance for pollution is smaller in case of electric cars. In case of countries like Norway where 80% of energy comes from renewable sources than the cars are even more ecologic.

The alternative option is fuel cells cars that in the end are electric cars but the energy need to produce the fuel is still too big.

Ayway as in all cases energy and any goods are very strongly messed up with politics. If China didnt force the car companies to produce the electric cars no one would even touch that idea (except Elon Musk). As for this moment China is the bigges holder of rare metal mines and this country is the winner of this competition. I gave up hope that any politician care about planet or environment.

KG, Politricks are stupid! Here in Canada, we're Carbon Neutral but our government still want to tax our working asses with a carbon tax!  :o Strange times!!! I do think that globally, politics need to change, it just doesn't work. It is messy everywhere. I would like to see the scientific community having more "weight" on the political decisions. I do believe in climate change, It is a bit arrogant to think that we have 0 impact having 7 billions + Homo Sapiens on this Blue Dot polluting everyday. We need to change our ways, period. I don't watch the news because I get upset and can't sleep at night! We live among dumb asses! Earth Flatters, Transgenders, Neutral free, 2 spirited, refugees, ISIS, Climate change, UFOs, Donald Trump, Hollywood morons, AI, grown up people that believe in Angels, Noah's Ark.. It is just chaos! My only escape from this nonsense is Motorcycles.  I am open minded, but an e-bike has no appeal to me. It is like having sex with a mute. Lithium mining is limited and dirty. Have you seen the lake of chemical crap in China? disgusting. At the same time, we need to stop burning primitive fossil fuel. We need to develop better solutions like Biofuel like Algae. It burns the same as gas and there is no cons. BMW had a car running on liquid hydrogen!! There is always going to have a market for noise and combustion engine! Spirit of racing is gone without the noise! Maybe racing will save us from the electrical nonsense? But I know that morons out there will go out and buy these e-bikes! arghhhhhhh!

haha! Don't get me wrong! I like the 90's look/style way better. I am in the market for a new bike right now and trying to "brainwashed myself" into the new stuff! Everything out there is kind of ugly. I like the Italian bikes but don't want to spend my summer at the dealership? ::) What would you buy?

The ecological aspect of electric vehicles is not the most important thing for me. The problem with mining is that no one control the mines and thats the problem, identical to polluting the rivers in India or China by factories or other mines. And I think you cant blame only litium mines forgeting about whole electric Industry. In poor comunistic countries No one controls it unfrotunately. I agree with most of your arguments. I dont watch tv because finding a good debate or proper information is impossible. Anyway after test ride of electric car I had big fun of it and I really liked it. But would I buy electric bike? Not sure, I didnt ride any. So to say if I really like it or not I should do a test ride. What I really dislike is people saying:  I dont like this or that never trying a thing and they base their comment on personal stereotypes. Which in case of motorcycles is: it must be loud and powerfull, sound good and ride fast. If you base the pleasure of riding on the engine noise than I understand you. But if you assume that e bikes suck at all never trying to ride one I would not accept your argument "it sucks because I say so". Some time ago I had a feeling that the most fun of the motorcycle is when it rides fast and is powerful until I started to ride on mini bike. Since that moment I have changed my point of view. You can have fun without powerful engine and loud exhaust.

  I like Elon Musk but don't see the Appeal with the Teslas, an Iphone on wheels. I do think that the noise, vibrations, the smell is part of the whole experience,  just like sex lol!  ;)  I don't care how much torque they have, it is Soul less. :-\  It is caca!

I'll wait with my judgement until I see how the racing is. I mean, if it's good then it's just one more nice race to watch during a race weekend. I don't think it will replace MotoGP any time soon. One big advantage with e-bikes, especially when it comes to enduro and motocross, that doesn't get mentioned a lot, is that it takes away the noise restriction problem. A lot of tracks here in Sweden are out in the middle of fuckin' nowhere, and good luck trying to find one in around the capital (where I happen to live). So maybe, if off-road e-bikes catches on (they have to become cheaper) then we might get special e-bike tracks and trails closer to populated areas, and then you don't have to drive for two hours or more just to have some fun in the dirt.

Cheers,

<off topic>
I've always hated the stance of some bikers with respect to noise.
From 50cc scooters making more noise than light airplanes (to go no faster than 65Kmh) to silly harleys sounding like 7.5 earthquake when entering a tunnel (to go no faster than 90kmh) and to finish with gonzo racers shattering windows with their "race tuned" exhausts (used downtown, mostly stopped at red lights).
I've got myself an aftermarket exhaust (homologated and with db killers), but I try to make it sing when and where it make sense.
I was amazed by f1 cars back in the 1.5L turbo era seen live in Monza (right above the pits, it was possible at the time): that doesn't mean I'm in favor of people making this kind of noise while commuting.
<end>

eCars are incoming, bikes will follow. People never see the appeal of new stuff in the beginning. But luckily people change their mind and, often, die and get replaced :)
