Bug Reports / Re: Gearing

I think the gearing top speed is only a theoretical one, it does not include the aerodynamic drag.
Hence the real top speed you can achieve is lower.

MaX.

This.
It also doesn't count rear tyre slip, that can be high even in 6th gear on a very powerful bike.

Support / Re: Tracking Setting in GP Bikes?

Hi Guys!

Does anyone know if "TrackIR5" works with GP Bikes? I've turned on tracking in the setting but it doesn't work.

I presume the "Tracking" setting in GP Bikes is for head tracking while riding via a device ie, webcam(Face Tracking), or for "Tracking"an infa red device such as "TrackIR5"?

Any ideas why it's not working?

"Tracking" uses FreeTrack only.
It should be possible to use TrackIR using mouse emulation.

Figured out Control-R when in bike view mode refreshes textures.

Just the R key.

It is interesting to note that the GP Bikes laptimes at Victoria, that looked extremely unrealistic, are no more so off since the real track was re-paved.
So it is safe to assume that GP Bikes simulates a smooth track  :)

Suggestions and wishlist / Re: Night races ?

Hi,

on the KRp forum I read this concerning the next KRP release (note, it wasn't Piboso stating the below):

Quote- add the night version of at least the main tracks with artificial illumination.

Is this confirmed and is this planned for GPB/WRS too ?

MaX.

Night is not confirmed and is not planned for 1.0 of KRP or GPB / WRS.
If it's possible to integrate it in the current file format, it will be added in a 1.1 update.

Bug Reports / Re: Couple of beta3 strange things

1. A lot of players on the hotlap server tonight (Victoria). At a given point I'm all alone and in the practice recap I see all the best times of the players that have left and mine (done 52 laps).
Another player joins, rides a few laps and then he has a core.exe. He reconnects but he no longer see any lap for me nor best time, as if I had done no lap at all.
On the other hand, I had my 52 laps and my bet time on the recap page. He tries to reconnect but has the same.
I try to ride a lap but after  a few meters I get a core.exe. When I reconnect, here's the strangest thing, I have zero laps and no best time, but all the other players (the ones that had left before) have their laps and best times.

2. Something I noticed multiple times: when you ride and a rider BEHIND you crashes (goes out of track and falls), I see some graphical artefacts blasting somewhere in front of me (looks like his bike or some parts of it tumbling). It's very quick but noticeable.

MaX.

1: In beta3 there is a bug ( already fixed ). If there are too many laps, a connecting client doesn't receive them, and there is memory corruption on the server, too.

2: This issue is still under investigation

Licenses didn't cover even one tenth of development costs.

:-\

so, what's the plan ?

The usual plan: to use money from KRP to develop GP Bikes.
And hopefully MX Bikes will bring some fresh cash.

To be detached from comments is the first thing you learn when entering the gaming industry. But it is much easier when working on a game 40 hours a week for a salary, in a company. When you are alone and you get criticism and even threats ( YEAH, I even got those ) about YOU personally, and not your projects you work for 80 hours a week, a DAMN project you only LOSE money and time on, then you get VERY stressed.
You really loose money Piboso ? Maybe GPB is not very lucrative but with the licenses did you really loose money? I know there's forum etc.. who have a price but i was thinking you was earning money not loosing even if it's just a little .
And u can be proud of you're project so it's not totally black
You make a fantastic sim and i hope you enjoy ride it too so there's some benefits others than time and monney.

Losing A LOT of money.

I really understand what you are saying, man, i told you before i understand your position, trust me , i understand you.

But in my opinion you are taking it in a personal way. You shouldn't get stressed with what people are saying in the forum, people in general are idiot, including me.
You should take this as a tool for you to know how are the things out there, get feedback.

Do you think if Milestone has a forum they would take seriously what they read in the forum, or get stressed?    Absolutely NO. They only take from the forum what they think is necesary for them to do a good product. Anything else they don't give a s***t.

Please think about this, think like a company not like a single person. Put a wall between you and us, don't let the forum stress you. I think is something that any company manager, boss or whatever is exposed to public critiques should learn to do.

I have my own business, a creative business, and for sure people complaint about my work, i know it. But i have to learn to deal with this and don't get stressed, its only a feedback for me.

Please think about this calmly. All i want is GPB to be a succesfull project. Those last rules you set will kill the comunity and give you a false feedback of how the project is going on.

Toomes, what we are talking about is not negative, is something we have to talk about, for the sim to be a succesfull product.  Is necesary we talk about this like grown people, calmly and respectfull. We are not shouting each other, we are talking.

I've never complained about delays, never.
I've been discussing with many people here, defending your work , trying to keep people calm and wait for the releases, giving the feedback i can.
And i feel now like kicked in the face, just because im trying to help you not to go crazy with the forum.
A forum is for us, even if you host it. We can discuss what we want (about the sim, the developing or whatever is related to the sim) if we are respectful and not insulting. I'm sorry but that's what a forum is.

Sad to say but, i'm out of the forum too, this new rules are unacceptable for an actual society. I'm not a child , i'm 43 years old, i'm always respectfull and never insult others. There is no need to delete my posts.

Hope you can understand.

Then you don't understand the amount of pressure and stress this damn forum is generating in an already extremely stressed person.
Not all projects have an official forum, maybe GP Bikes shouldn't have one.

Remember people, only happy thoughts on this new forum!

I`m out, forever. Good luck with the game & community..

It's only possible to comment the sims, not the developer. Would you prefer to complain about delays? Do you think it would be helpful?
I say good day. Now good day.

Plugins / Output plugins

It is possible to write a DLL that receives data from the simulated bike in realtime.

Example source code can be downloaded at http://www.gp-bikes.com/?page=downloads

Please note that all function calls are blocking, so control should be returned to simulation as soon as possible to avoid framerate issues.

The DLL must be compiled for 64 bit.

The plugin must have the file extension renamed to DLO and it must be copied to the "gpbikes/plugins" directory in GP Bikes installation folder.

NOTE: a license is not needed to add plugins.
