I see too many helmets and white suits, except us veterans.

it sucks to see my bike go straight again, while I was behind Hawk, (min 19:44  :'( ) f**k! I was closing utorrent and I lost too much time to recover some positions.  ;D

Yeah, I saw you go just straight on in the replay, I thought you'd blown your engine again. Lol  ;D

Nick was catching me fast too towards the end and his engine blew too.... That device I grabbed from Honda's 4 stroke motorcycle HQ actually works a treat! Hehe! ;D

I had a decent race.... the only thing was my gear selector was playing up for some reason, not selecting the downshift gear that wanted a lot of the time. I hate that, it's happened to me before too in beta 6 and it screws up your entry into corners big time. Apart from that and 2 crashes and finding myself in the wrong gear too many times I had great fun! I'm wondering if problems like that are built in minor mechanical failures? It wouldn't be the first time we find out about some feature we didn't know existed. Lol  ;D

Anyway you guys were a pleasure to race with, and the start went like a dream with no jump starters. Amazing!  ;D 8)

Congrats to Desteban for the win, and  Dareaper and Tommaso for the 2nd and 3rd places respectively... Well done guys!

Really enjoyed the race... Hope it's not too long before the next 2T event.  I'll be looking forward to it!  ;D 8)

Thanks to Nick, the CoC, and Matty(Happy Birthday Matty!  ;D ). Always do a great job. Much appreciated.  ;)

Hawk.

That could have gone better.  :-\
Nearly jumped the start and jammed the brake back on just as everyone else pulled away.
Others had bigger issues though and I wasn't in that bad a position.  Tried to just settle down and it worked for about the first third of the race...
...then all went wrong.  A couple of silly slow tumbles(dropped it again pulling away after one of them - doh!) and a big high speed off in the last sector(think it was the first time I'd got out of the previous corner properly and I was going faster than usual).

Kept seeing blue flags everywhere.  Knew I was going to get lapped and was watching out for them but in the race the marshals always seemed to have blues at the ready, the camera towers looked like blue flags and I think there was other blue clutter around the track - bales or the likes.  Was nearly letting folk passed who were on the same lap as me.   ;D

Tail end of the race went not bad(apart from the fast flip).  Settled down again after the piss-poor midsection and managed to sneak home just ahead of DD(who'd been just ahead of me in practice all week).

Next time out the target will be trying to only get lapped once(but I'm not holding my breath).
At least that's the first race done, now I know about the minute delay at the start and that when folk are parked up in groups around the track and saying well done in the chat....
....the race is probably over.   :P
Thouroughly enjoyed it,cheers guys, see you at the next one.   ;)

Napalm Nick

Well done Grooveski always nice to get that first race under your belt.

One of the issues to remember is that if you have a tumble, it is likely your tyres will overheat on one side (scraping down the road) so you need to be ultra careful for half a lap after getting back on, to give them a chance to cool off, or you get caught in a fall-off cycle that usually ends in a Rage-quit lol.

Ah yes Blue flags, ANOTHER issue already on the bug-list in the hope the blue flags are not shown so early. At the moment the lapping rider can be a long way behind and you get blues. We have all let non-lapping riders through trying to get out of the way lol.

Don't forget to look out for the last lap white flag and the chequered finish flag at the line. However do not trust them, the flagman sometimes gets confused lol. Always read the pitboard each lap so you keep up to date with what lap you are on (shows laps-to-go).

Consider turning 2d flags on, rather than the 3d ones. The 3d ones are more realistic but hard to spot.

I think you are setting realistic goals. Mine also included not getting lapped, for many months (it still happens now and again), but I have been stuck on the 'don't fall off' goal now for many, many months lol.  ::)

Glad you enjoyed it mate!

Another tip/rule for people - qualifying or race is not over until everyone is back in the pits so please avoid chat until then. Although the qually timer might say ZERO there will still be people who crossed the line before zero and have their last lap to complete.

Oh yeh and the reason you saw me parked up was because of the engine break so I was just waving at people lol. Desteban/Dareaper came to give me a tow home hehe

Thanks for the added info Nick. I learned a lot of important lil bits like the start countdown and lights functions. I had a nice race, I did 11 laps without crashing and that was good for me lol. I found out how to stop the double up shifts that are seriously killing me but get bike mismatch as it is an edit to the bike cfg file and cant be used online as the servers bike has original settings.

To your replay and mine, yours was 1 hour 15 mins long and 399MB in size, mine was only 9mins 4secs and 477MB in size!!!
Can graphics setting alter this factor for replays and if so why has it not been thought of? Now I cant record a whole race is BS. Thanks for your replay file bro. I manage to see that as I was thinking I had a min left before the start I was smokin and then had to grab the bars and promptly reset my bike by mistake lol. Live and learn hehe

If I host a race from my system what settings would I need in the GPB host page ingame? I want to practice online but would like that others could join me.

That is a VERY interesting point made there DD about the replays.  So it poves that 10=10Mb is correct (you got 500=477Mb which is pretty much a true byte to Mbyte conversion). Your Replay file size is a lot bigger even if a lot shorter. Don't forget 500 is not the max so try 5000 that should be enough. If you get more game cores it is usually indicative that the setting is too high.

"Why" is indeed the crucial question and one I don't know for sure  :o Maybe you could test your gfx theory it is a good idea but it doesn't really sound that logical to me, a replay file is a replay file at the end of the day, usually made more or less special by the settings set on the viewing machine?

Fags out on the grid man  ;D

In 'Host World' you can put whatever settings you like for a race server others can join . The key thing is to make sure your ports are forwarded. Sometimes even this will not work if sharing ports with a 'dedicated' server but you aren't so should be OK.

Race was awesome. I really enjoyed it and I am very happy with my podium and its my 3rd race ever.

Nick I thought you were celebrating victory(as I thought you had won), so I wanted to come celebrate my podium with you :P. That wasn't the case though.

One thing that I would like to mention... and its for backmarkers. Last night I came on the main straight and saw DD cruising on the straight. He probably saw the blue flag and his intention was to give way(to which he did to Hawk on the straight). I think he looked backed and saw me coming and kept on with the slow pace. This in turn caused me and him to go into turn 1 at the same time with him on the inside, making me go wide over those curbs and crashed.

It goes for me aswell but I think if you are a backmarker, race your race and give way where its best possible. Don't slow down a mile ahead of the guy and still take the same lines when it comes to the corners.

I might be wrong on this one, but its just my opinion. Slowing down dramatically upsets the lapper more than riding your race and giving way where its easily possible.

Napalm Nick

Unfortunately not bud I was praying for a mechanic to turn up lol.

Yep overtaking / lapping duties are all laid out in the club rules (huh we have rules? Lol!) http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2332.0 and has been discussed much - slower rider - race your race, it is the overtaking riders responsibility to overtake. But on a straight you can make a safe definitive manoeuvre (maybe even raise your arm - nice touch) to show you are giving way and want the pass to be made NOW.

Hey sorry dareaper, I am having a massive problem with sounds when other bikes are about it is so frickin loud and unclear where the bike is behind you in both placement and distance. I tried to pull tighter to the inside of turn 1 but could not get the bloody bike over fast enough for you, sorry mate. I was just trying to race my race and not crash. It is only my 2nd race so I am still over cautious when you guys are about. I do try to think where I am and how to let you pass safe. I even dumped my bike on lap 11 doing so in front of poor old Hawky lol.

The sound issue really needs fixing. I am nervous enough lol. I seriously get confused and just cant hear my own exhaust which I depend on for riding. It makes me lose a good couple of secs and to slow my pace to make sure I am not over revving and gonna dump the bike. On a straight its no problem but in a long sweeping set of bends its a killer. I know a lot of it is getting used to it, but it is FAR to FRICKIN loud!!! I literally feel like the other bike has shot up me ass and is doing a burnout in my head!!! Cant you Modding wizards do anything as the lord seems to not care.
