Looks great dude! :D Wish I could ride in real life. Sorry about your crash! Was it a high side?
No theres a dip in the track just as you enter the turn they call it the bomb hole.. Lost the front going in lol saved it on my knee but went straight onto the grass.. Then barrel rolled lol :)
Can u not modify a bike to let you ride dude? How about a trike or something? Use hand controls??

you would be ok on a trike though right?
we're all breakable when it comes to crashing..
i seen i guy ride pretty fast with 1 arm and 1 leg before! heavily strapped to the bike but its do-able! you should look into it klax! ;)
hey bob,
i think i could remember that klax said he has brittle-bone disease which is not compatible riding a bike. the risk is too high i think.
I've broken ribs from sneezing to hard as a kid. lol.
But thanks for the thought though. :)
yeah man i remember.. that doesnt mean it isnt possible! just depends if klax is crazy enough to try! he does have pink hair so.... :P
I've broken literally hundreds of bones in my life. I've must have broken my collar bones 20 times alone. Although my right collar bone I've probably broken 12-14 times. I always seemed to break the right one more. So with that I feel like I am half way to being a real motorcycle racer. lol. :D
lol ;D
wow do you heal quickly or just usual amount of time?
collar bones suck..
I'd break easy but on he up side heal fast, but then I'd break easy. lol Although as I've gotten older that magic speedy healing power has gotten slower. :)

The most I can do with this bike and with those tyres is peg-sliding.
I normally wear leather pants but it was just too damn hot on that day to go around in leather pants (I rode back from school on that picture).

Great pics!! TZ250 at Paul Ricard, bet that was mega 8)
The TZ250 is by far my favorite bike - it is just amazing. 102kg, 84bhp, the chassis is ridiculeously precise. The suspension is great, it's just a real race machine.
My personal bike (=that I bought) is the R6 and the rest are my father's so I know the R6 much better!
Also BOBR6 your pics are insane.
Here's a small jump from 15 year old me in freeriding to try (and fail) to compensate for that jump you did on the road :P I'll have to look for some bigger jump pictures.

lol that be amazing, id probably crash too infront of those guys lol :D
It's funny though because I was not stressed at all to ride in front of Christian because I know him a bit (he's friends with my dad who worked at Yamaha for 35 years) and also because he's really super nice (he even says in a way he was too nice to become the 500 world champion, despite having had 5 pole positions in a row once).
No, my mistake is much more stupid than that. It's just cold slick tyres... Damn I still feel guilty about all of this.
Since then I thought about crashing in front of Freddie Spencer or Wayne Gardner (they ride some classic events in France) to earn even more fame but I don't think it's a good way to become famous.
Very nice pics guys! ;D ;D

Just be careful with this: it
will be more expensive than racing a 600. The maintenance is pretty tiresome on these bikes even though it's much better than a 350 or a 750 (pistons every 1000km, etc etc). My R6 is MUCH less expensive to run.
I'm just saying this because we often see people buying 250 and breaking them because they don't put the maintenance in or they do the maintenance themselves and end up messing things up. So make sure you have a mechanic with good experience working on TZs or real racing 2 strokes (not the street 2 stroke...).
Other than that it's really super fun!
Yeah thats right! My mate warned me about this lol.
Couple of options though, past masters do a package where you can use one of their bikes for the season! Or a weekend here and there if you gain entry..
If you crash or damage the bike in some way.. They will do everything they can to get you back out on track! Its not cheap but to turn up and ride with no worries is worth it!
So il carry on with the 600 and squeeze some rounds in on the TZ250 when I can.. ;)
The bikes they have are not in museum condition lol. They use lots of spares from the old R6, brakes etc. Generally battered bikes..
So to do 3 or 4 rounds would be good enough for me using their bike.. If I enjoy it enough il think about finding my own TZ! 8)
Im enjoying my old R6.. Its cheap and spare parts are everywhere, racing is always close. I really want a new bike though, like what desteban is racing.. Maybe 2016..
The past masters thing sounds like a great solution to race a TZ.
I also would like a 2008+ R6 (I'm riding a 2003 version) but don't realistically have enough money to spend for that. It's a shame because I've tried a race spec 2008 R6 on the track and it was fantastic. Felt 10% better than mine everywhere: brakes, suspension, engine, precision... I'll see about buying a new bike in 2016 or 2017 :P
I looked at the Past Masters website and it all looks like TZR250, not TZ250. The two bikes are completely different (in fact they don't have any parts in common). The TZR250 is probably much cheaper to run than a TZ250, but also much less powerful (50bhp stock vs about 85 to 92 depending on the year) and heavier (102/104 vs 128 kg dry):P Your choice but keep in mind the TZ are expensive as ****.
A lot of people are confused between the two bikes but it's really not the same thing :P
Here's what our TZ250 looks like without the fairing - every single part on it is original (except the paint but that's it - most of them were sold completely white and prepared for painting). And the stock bike was not street legal of course (race only)
Oh sh!t!! You are absolutely right! :-[ my mistake.. gutted :(
Ok change of plan.. How do I get myself on a TZ ?? Any ideas?
Yes, that looks like a very expensive bit of kit! Lol. Its stunning! :P
I guess the TZR would still be alot of fun against other riders, or even the RD's which past masters run.. But I wanna ride that thing!! Lol :'(
Do you have any more pics of your TZ?
Yeah sure.
Here is the other side
(http://i59.servimg.com/u/f59/16/53/25/86/tz320n11.jpg)
And the cockpit (very simple- just the useful stuff: RPM and temp)
Here is another original one that is being sold by one of my father's friends. Same year. 1992. Our bike is 99% the same (the only difference I see is the colour of the silencers. I don't know why)
http://classic-racing-motorcycles.com/motos-de-course-mod/yamaha-tz-250-d-1992/
There are many pictures at this link. That one is almost brand new. It is owned by our mechanic.
Such a sweet lil bike. Great to see people really looking after such machinery.

I've got somewhere near 20GB worth of pics from over the past 5 or 6 years from builds to rides, process and progress, all that happy crap. Never been a track guy though so not much in terms of "racing" photo's but plenty of road stuff.
The beginning of the "four stroke revolution" in motocross was a time in my life where I religiously watched motocross every sunday, lusting after the undeniably fast YZ400F (the consumer model of the bike that took wins for Yamaha at pro level). Age and alot of falling down has turned me into an old man at a young age so I no longer can ride the way the bike was intended, but it never stops me from feeling that wonderful rush of power this monster delivers.

My brother bought a 2012 CBR250R brand new off the showroom floor, and just after break in he dumped it playing around in a field.... yeah, on grass and dirt with a street bike. Not to worry, the bike was brought home and the transformation began. 2 years later it is the furthest anyone has taken a 250R, all trellis frame work and a gambit of aluminum bits to replace the goofy steel stuff that came on it to begin with. All hand formed alu bodywork and tank as well as a modified flat track tail from Airtech fiberglass. This thing is a work of art with the GasGas wheels and DOT legal knobbies. Still far from finished, I've been poking my brother to turbocharge it as I have all the parts... time will tell how that goes.

Bloody hell!
Id love to have a dedicated track bike (even race it) but work doesn't allow me the time or the money :(
stuff im doing is dirt cheap matty! old pre-injection R6.. iv binned the bike a few times now.. ebay is my best friend lol
sometimes i do a race weekend, pack up sunday evening.. get home, unload the van and go straight to work for 10hrs :'(
it sucks but its 100% worth it. ;)
Haha sound like a laugh. I know a couple of people who race sv650s and i rode one for 2 years so thats looking like my first bike (2k for a race ready bike, parts are dirt cheap and ive got acess to machinery to make parts if nesecerry ;) )
BOBR6 makes a good point.
A lot of people think you need tons of money to start riding on racetracks but to be honest if you really try you can do it for a "reasonable" amount of money.
For example, just like Bob, my bike is an old (2003) Yamaha R6 that I bought used in 2009.
The preparation of the bike includes:
- A race fairing
- 1 tooth shorter pinion
- Steel braided brake lines,
- Tyres
That's it. No special exhaust, nothing. I don't have tyre warmers, I don't have anything fancy. I have an 800€ trailer (I could have bought one cheaper but this one is high quality and super practical, I can do everything alone, so it's a good investment for the next 2 decades), a few other things (battery charger, jerrican and a 70€ toolkit) and that's all. I pull my trailer using a fricking peugeot 206 with 100 000km on it. I've seen people at the racetrack pulling their trailer with an old Renault twingo for god's sake.
I store my bike in my grandmother's garage and I sleep in a tent on the racetracks. My bike has no insurrance like most track bikes.
A lot of times I see people with more money than me who say "I don't have the money for it". Yeah right.
Of course I'm not judging you matty, maybe you really don't have the money, but don't overestimate the money needed like a lot of people do. A lot of people think you need a BMW S1000RR, a power commander, a shifter, tyre warmers, a truck with prostitutes in it (ok, maybe not) but you really don't.
And also, doing this is a choice. I'm not saving any money right now every month because I spend it riding.
None taken mate.
When ive only had 4 propper months work in the last 8 moneys tight :P (new job now and its looking very stable. Bloody construction industry)
It will happen in 2015 sooner rather than later and it will probably be an SV (love my V twin).
In good hands, the SV can be really fast, it's a really good bike to start I think...

Got my eye on minitwin racong (little brother to supertwins) the bikes are about 85% standered. And it seems a very freindly leuge
Sounds great matty! ;)
Get your mates involved too! I chip in on most things with my housemates.. Much cheaper! Van, gazeebo, generator (needed for tracks with no power source, for tyre warmers and of course the most important piece of equipment.. The kettle!)
You dont ''need'' tyre warmers but its recomended! That way its safer to get ''onit'' straight away! Once the flag drops, nobody takes it steady lol.
On trackdays you dont want to waste time/laps warming your tyres..
I use biketeck warmers.. £120
Biggest cost is getting started but it can be done cheaply as Edouard said.. Just gradually gain all the kit.. After that you will have bags of fun! Scary moments too! ;)
Actually racing is very far off for me :P
I've only been riding for 4 years now (only 3 on anything with real power). A few hundred trackdays need to be done first :P
My closest track is Snetterton and then its Cadwell or Silverstone (yay me for living in arse end nowhere :D )
I wouldnt worry about that... Some guys I race with are so slow and incompetent you have to wonder if they've ever ridden a bike before lol!!
Nobody cares... We're all having fun riding bikes! Club racing is open to anybody..
To get your novice race license now you have to do an on-track test! So if you pass that you are good to go.. I heard its easy.. Just display basic bike control and dont crash lol.
With 4 years experience you would pass easily!
Lad in the pics is doing the super prestigio flat track this weekend!!! Il post a livestream link when I get home.. its on BT sport too I think.. #79

@Teeds. What you think of Snetterton 300? Had my first trip to the 300 circuit in 2014 (I had been to the original hundreds of times)
I love the spectator banking at Agostinins you can see nearlly all of the circuit

It's my local track and yea I loved every minute of thrashing the bits off my bikes around it. Was so glad to have done hundreds of virtual laps in a car before going, was a car sim but was still great to know the track layout in detail. In hindsight it would probably have been better with the 20 min sessions we did to have gone on the 200 track - more laps and less learning needed.
Used to hang around this track a long time ago and did some car park marshalling for the Race of Aces now and then, crazy days! :-X Never got to ride or drive on the original though, I wonder if the Nortons would have done so well with this many more turns in the mix? ;)
So Harry, have you ridden the 200 version and if so do you prefer it to the original? Also how do you rate the 300 in comparison?
Local track eh.
Snetterton is only 40 minutes away for me and I'm going there in April for my first day on the SV :D
Nice matty ;) first track bike?
Yup, got a trailer today, now to fit a towbar :P
Needs a little work (fork seal and minor body repair) but otherwise good to go!
Nice one! 8) need a tow bar myself! Box trailer for this year! ;)
Have fun at snett dude! ;D
This shit weather needs do one already lol im ready to go!!!
Oh and the box trailer is in need of some very minor modification (raise the top, chop whole in front to allow for front wheel, relocate spare wheel, fix busted lock etc etc :P)
Lol what did you buy? A shoe box? Haha
Im looking for one.. They aint cheap are they lol
50mm to short both up and legnth... didnt allow for the front wheel grab, and we're adding a box on the front to hold the front wheel grab and just raising the lid enough. It was worth it though. 400 for a trailer thats probably worth 600 so im not complaining ;D
Bargain! I need one big enough for 2 bikes and kit.. Some are a crazy price.. Its just an empty box on wheels ffs lol

Aye, used to live a short push bike ride from the track but now am probably about the same as you away in a car from the Thetford direction. Is this your 1st track day as well your 1st go on this bike then matty?
Hey matty, for my trailer I use a system that blocks the front wheel and keeps the bike upright. I can load and unload it from the trailer very easily on my own without the bike risking a fall, and I can tie it without having to worry about the bike falling, it's really practical.
I'm not sure we're allowed to put commercial links on the forum but feel free to contact me if you need any info, it's very very practical when you do everything on your own.
I only have a crappy pic of my setup (in grandma's garage LOL) but the system is in my middle rail.
Here's what it does to the bike:
I'm only saying this because at 50% of the trackdays I see a bike falling over when the guy is tired at the end of the day and struggling to tie it.
Thanks Edouard
I've got a front wheel grab (well 3 now, my two and dads got one to :P ) Couldn't be without one now, so bloody easy!
We've converted/built a few trailers before (both me and my dad can weld, have got all the tools needed and have loads of materials)
Shouldn't be an issue :P Only thing is that the trailer, when fully loaded, can't weight more than 750kg (bloody DVLA basterds) otherwise I'm not allowed to tow the trailer :(
;D
The 750kg limit should be OK with 2 bikes and a bit of equipment.
What's stupid though is that you can still fill your car with heavy stuff no problem but the trailer can't be heavy.
My trailer is 500kg max because I have a small car. I could have a 750kg but then I'd need (legaly) need brakes on the trailer. With 1 bike I'm around 350kg right now so I'm really ok, I have to add a box in the front part to put my jerricans in because I don't really like having all the fuel in my car at the moment... :P
By the way if you have any tips to share feel free to do so, now's the time :P
Here's a tip with the front wheel grab: I put an old cloth on it before loading the bike to remove the front tire more easily after (it can be really sticky if you load the bike while the tires are still hot). It works really good, I used to struggle to pull my tire out of it...
HA! Just been doing some work on the trailer, fits the length perfectly with a wheel grab on the front! (a nat wouldn't get his cock in the gap :P)
Just got to raise the top now....
That's a good idea about the tyres and keeping the petrol separate, I remember when me and my dad used to run a kart the smell of petrol in the car is horrible.
And Teeds, it'll be my second trackday (did one on my Daytona back in august at Folmebray) but it'll be my on this bike. Im north of Norwich so Snetterton is my closest track by far :)
Nice! Folembray was kind of my hometrack for a while. It's a fun little track! I have to go back there one day :) The owners are really nice too and riding there was pretty cheap.
£305 for 1 person to get ferry to and from France, stay at a hotel (very nice in fact) and use of the track for the day.
I've got a video up on the forum of me going round from the afternoon session, not very quick, but i was a little nervous :P
Edit- Found it :P http://www.youtube.com/v/IqJTUWQ4atA&feature=youtu.be
Nice video and your lap time is ok for a first time on a track!
Here's an old video of me riding the track in 2011 - I've made progress since (I was lapping in 1'00'', lap record is around 0'52''). Looking at the video I'm thinking of so many things I could have done better lol. I have to go back there because I'm curious to know what my time would be now (looking at my times at other tracks I'm thinking 57/58s? but maybe I'm just dreaming :()
http://www.youtube.com/v/P07sWjXSTIM
from the video i think my fastest was about 1.07 (i've got videos from the rest of the afternoon, just have bothered to upload them) and i was fairly consistent, but i wasn't looking for a lap time really, just enjoying myself :D
I think the fastest person/people on the day was the event organizers at about 55s, but one of them only had one arm (you can see him in the video) and both on Yam R1....
Yeah I'm not surprised you went down to 1.07 at the end of the day, this track is quite easy to learn :)
To be honest I think 52/53 is achievable on a 600. I have a friend who lapped in 54.5 with a yamaha R6 so I think with a really really good rider 52 is doable, the track is quite small, it's not a big advantage to be on a 1000.
The lap record is Moto2 GP racer Xavier Simeon setting a 51''8 on a 1000.
Sweet jesus... :o
GP riders are in GP for a reason, what did you think? Haha

How do I say this... Well, the front fork looks a bit strange :P
lol No idea if its original or not, in fact i know very little about the zx7r.. tell me more :)
Well it's almost bottoming out... Are the springs in it??
But the picture quality is crap so I could be wrong and it could just be a tie on the tubes to measure the travel of the suspension...
By the way Bob, I rode a yamaha 0W01 this weekend at Paul Ricard circuit, and had a pretty bad case of what looks like pretty deep cold tear on the D211 rear, my pressure was the recommended 1,2 bar (19psi) cold, I never have these problems on the R6 with the same pressure, any advice maybe?
My tyre looked exactly like this (picture found on the web):
To be honest though the grip was pretty good, a little bit of movement but nothing unpredictable... I'm mostly concerned about the wear
could be a few things.. are you using warmers? cold track is a PITA no matter what lol. you could mess around with suspension but i wouldn't do so if you are happy with the setup.. try 1 or 2 more psi..
yeah its a zip tie around the fork on the zx7 ;) front does look low though lol

Not using warmers but not on the R6 either and I don't have any issues... I'll try 2 more PSI, thx.
I asked Jacky Germain about it (he was a GP mechanic for yamaha for about 15 years) and he said not to worry about it too much... We'll see, it could be because of the track surface/ type...

Nice pictures Patrick! If you want to improve some more I think the best solution is going to a good/proper riding school (some school where the teachers have ridden at least at a top national level - it's more expensive than other schools, but it's really worth it). That's what I did, I went to the Didier de Radigues school and it really helped me. I ride faster and safer now.

+1 much safer and constructive than track days!
You might think your quick (i did ::) ) but decent instructors (all out of season racers at the one i did) will display what really fast (and safe) is about on track.

Very VERY nice pics there Edouard.... Love em! ;D 8)
What year is that model?
Hawk.
1992 - Fully stock, except the front fairing which is the 1996 version.
!!!!!!I WANT MY TWO STROKE BACK!!!!!!!
I really regret selling my Honda RS250 Production Racer and Suzuki RGV 250 Race Kitted Bike. :'( :'( :'(
@Edouard
Really nice looking bike. I envy you of this bike... ;)
Do you ride the 1996 fairing for better aerodynamic?
To myself: Sell the 4 stroke crap Yamaha R6 and get a decent 2stroke back (5KE TZ or NXA Honda...)!!
5KE TZ is great (would love to try it) but my dad's is a 4DP and to be honest it's still very powerful - One of my friends raced both the 4DP and the 5KE. He says the 5KE is a bit more powerful but doesn't have the chassis balance of the 4DP (it's the best chassis I've ever ridden, period).
The fairing is a 96 version just because it was there when we bought the bike and it was in good condition so we kept it. I don't know why the previous owner installed that.
Also, yes, the 2 stroke is way more fun but more expensive to run than an R6. On monday I just rode the 250 for 20 mins to make it run and that's it, the rest of the day was spent on my R6 and a couple R1 that Yamaha France let me ride.
If I were you I would buy a 5KE though because the price of the 4DP are getting higher because they'll be eligible for classic racing in a few years so people are buying them now... Whereas the 5KE are left behind for now... So I think it's a good time for that. The problem is the noise regulations at the track, on a lot of tracks I can't ride the 250 it's too noisy, despite having the stock silencers on...
On Monday the only reason I was able to ride it is that it was a Yamaha trackday and my dad worked for Yamaha for 36 years... Otherwise if I had no connections the noise would have been too much, I was above the tolerance of the track...
Niiiice EdouardB!! Stunning bike 8) looks much fun ;)

Nice pic.!
I can't wait to go to the Nordschleife with my RGV 250.
Thats also a nice pic Bob !
Great pic Bob! I thought the R6 you were racing would be a 2008+ model, on this picture it looks more like a 2001/2002 R6 :P I don't blame you, my R6 is a 2003 model because I'm on a tight budget (the 250 is not mine).
What rear tyre are you using Bob? Pirelli? It looks narrower than my Dunlops
Sweet pics guys, like the colours Bob, black, black and more black ;D
Cheers, yeah its the pre-injection 2001.. real PITA but parts etc are cheap! tyres are pirelli Sc sp i chucked on for the trackday.. They look really small compared to the SC's 180/55 SC0 is 180/60 loads better :D
Why PITA?
Mine is a 2000 model with 2003 race fairing and some YEC Kit bits. (Loved to race it 2002 and 2004)
Suspension+Frame is more forgiving then the 2008+ model.
Not the best in horsepower but still fun to ride.......until you get on a 250cc production racer (raced in 2007 :) :D ;D :-*).... ;D
After this experience the so called "superpsport bikes" are........xxxx. 8)

It's just taken a while to get it running sweet.. seems pretty good now tho and you are right, its fun to ride ;D love to race a newer model but with this bike its alot cheaper.. few of my mates are in the same races so its just a good crack ;)
Been pestering a guy i know to let me try his 250 but the answer is always no lol :'( looks alot of fun and faaaaast! :o
I tried the 2008 R6 once and I loved it. However I don't think the difference with my 2003 bike is enough to justify paying for the difference... Personally I am waiting for a revamp of the R6 but it could take a while... And after that I'll have to wait a year or two to buy a used one... This is going to take a while I don't know what to do :-P
If one of you guys ever come to France tell me and we can do an old Yamaha R6 shootout lol
I've got the oldest "R6" of you all I think... ::)

At least its pre-R6 Revolution, because its an YZF 600R, lovely called "The Cat" :)
Yeah, the thundercat :P I was talking about the R1 because it came out first and really started the revolution, it was a big step forward compared to other bikes.
as i saw all those r6's, i had to search for some pics and found some of my 1st two trackdays at oschersleben in 2011.

Yeah my dad is riding now more than he ever has! He likes the saying "You don't stop riding when you get old, you get old when you stop riding".
I hope I can ride until I'm at least 70 or maybe push all the way to 80/85. A couple years ago I followed (during a classic event) Jim Redman for a few laps. He was 81 and was still going strong! At least fast enough to ride in a modern Intermediate group, if not more. But hey, he's a 4-time world champion so it helps :P
So riding until 80 at the race track is my logical target :P
Hey JJ! Seems you're also from Germany! I life near Flensburg. Where are you from?

Would be pretty awsome to have this generation of bikes (new r1, new pani etc)
What struck me with the new R1 is how agile it is. It's like a 600 with a 1000cc engine!
Its been many, many years since I've wanted posters on my bedroom wall. As a kid I had Mike Hailwood pics, as a teen I had other...er... pinups but nothing since getting a mortgage.
The photo below from Goodwood this year would be the poster I would happily put up now. IMO possibly the greatest biking picture of possibly decades?

Which track version do you use there? The '300' 3 mile one? The game version is the '200' 2 mile version.

Was riding MX at Redlodge Wildtracks today and we got the same rain as you Matty. So many red flags and so hard not to crash in the bogs that formed in the low sections, thankfully it dried later on and got a bit more fun. Just finished a serious pressure washing session. When I arrived it was dry and the track looked perfect, I wasn't one of the lucky ones that got to ride it though :)

Hey Bob,
Folembray was the track where I learned to ride so I'm familiar with the place - haven't been there in 3 or 4 years though (wonder what my time would be now).
The track itself is short and simple like matty said, I liked the place, it has a few fast turns and what I like most is the atmosphere around the track, it's pretty quiet when no bike is running (it's more or less surrounded by a forest).
Matty, going from 1'10 to 1'04 is a good progression! If you want to gain more time, the part where you can make a big difference is the entire "uphill" part - so make sure you exit the right/left before the straight really nicely, then before the fast uphill left, try to shift before you make the turn - you can accelerate some more after that turn, and in the chicane after that, try to accelerate before the hairpin ;)
There's plenty of grip so don't worry about it too much :P
Im flat out on the 675 on the first left, which is 3rd (if you can even call it a corner :P) but lift off on the right hand apex (did leave it a bit later a couple of times but that chicane came up very fast and i needed to ride the bike home) and i'm hitting around 120 mph before breaking.
I'm amazed with my progression since last year and i'm now faster than my dad on his 1199 so... ;D
Your gearing is stock then?
With one tooth shorter gearing I used to be flat out in 4th in that turn - it is a turn, anyone at a minute or under can put their knee on the ground there (be careful though cause your knee will be on the grass :P)
The last few times I went there a friend running 54sec on a 600 told me to shift to 5th before the left and it was better, because in fourth you're at a really high RPM (almost rev limiter).
With your gearing I say shift to 4th right before the left turn.
For the chicane entrance I was always in 3rd (the chicane does come up surprisingly fast) and then back to 2nd for hairpin. Then 3rd out of the hairpin, rev limiter before the downhill chicane, then 4th, 5th, and back to 2nd.
At the braking point before the chicane the max I had on my dash speed was about 232 km/h but the reading is false because of the gearing - real speed about 210/215 = a good 130 mph. The guys that are faster than me go even faster there, I think that's one of the key spots. I got stuck on 1'02 for a while and my instructor told me it's easy to gain time at the uphill left and the chicane.
But really congrats on your progression :) it's like any sport, the more you practice, the better you get! :)
Good riders go about 10/20 km/h faster in the uphill section compared to the downhill part :)
https://youtu.be/tBn6cfw9erI (https://youtu.be/tBn6cfw9erI)
I was faster than this in earlier sessions but got told to slow down as I was overtaking a bit close to people. Which is fine for me as it wasn't really a track day but an advance riding corse (yearly thing by euro trax and ELAM) so it wasn't about flat out speed. I'm getting high 1:06 in most of this footage.

Good to know. I'm back there next year (same weekend :P) so I'll remember for then :)
I didn't have sliders on so I wasn't trying to get my knee down but I was getting close on the first and last bends. Hardest part now is the hairpin (well hardest corner now) the rest I'm really starting to like.
I crashed at the hairpin so can't give you much advice there :P - nice video by the way! Love the 3 cylinder sound. Also, you're in 4th for the left, aren't you?

Umm... i might have been a few times. I was definitely in 3rd on my faster times :)
Part of the training sessions was getting us to only use 2 gears (2nd and 3rd on the 675) and trying not to break (use engine breaking and knowing when to roll off) so I got used to pinning it in 3rd waiting for the rev limiter and then it was time to roll off and get ready to break for the chicane. Not the best thing for the bike i know but it certainly made me a lot smoother.
And on another note- I got my SV back from some tweeking by Seastar Superbike ;D

71bhp out of a standard SV is pretty good with only a full exhaust system and a K&N air filter :D

Yes it is an R6 Ricco. No other bike screems like she does ;D
Don't worry Hawk, I haven't played for almost a year, I totally suck right now. I have to start from scratch again so if anything you should train me to get back to pace ;)
Nice one Desteban!! Great video man 8) ;) that place looks alot of fun ;D do you run a quickshifter??
Thanks! Yeah it is a lot of fun there 8)
Ehm no I don't have a quickshifter, and after checking the prices I am honestly not very tempted to get one in the near future.
Besides the Suspension and Exhaust my R6 doesn't differ much from the normal Track R6.
Doesn't look like you need one anyway lol couldnt tell if you had one or not lol.
Yeah not cheap.. To be honest im getting tired of all the cost.. Its just constant. Next year will be random racing for me..
Yeah I totally know what you mean. I will be doing the same next year, if at all. I really took a liking to plain track days.
Not expensiv and lots of time to ride. Sometimes they even have some kind of a "race" included.

You can't have the TT without sidecars. although I'm not a diehard fan of the side cars, they definitely fun to watch at the TT and probably even more bonkers than the bikes to ride :D

Nice one doNico!! 8) would love to try some endurance one day.. how long was the race?
Went riding on tuesday on my R6, I'm happy I was able to ride about a full second faster than before :) I need to get my elbow out maybe it would touch the kerb (and possibly cause a crash :P)

Here is an old picture of me from 2012 when i was racing the Nordic Championship and the Swedish Championship with Nordgren Racing. The first year with Moto3 in Swedish and Nordic Champion being one of 2 riders in the 25 rider field on Moto3. I was not tipped to do the best, as the M3 lack a bit of topspeed compared to the 125GP bikes i was up against, but i took a surprise victory in first race and went on to win Nordic Championship and finish 2nd in Swedish championship due to a chain that broke in a race from a clear lead and a unfortunate crash in the rain when hitting a slippery spot on the track.
I MISS RIDING THIS BIKE!!

Yep, Nordgren Racing will always have a big spot in my heart, i raced with them since 2009 when i moved from Minimoto and NSF100 to 125GP, the team manager have supported me ever since, doing everything he could to help me be on top wether it was giving me good material (some very cool stuff he had for me!) or the support and teaching i needed, without him my Wildcard at Valencia 2011 in 125GP last ever world championship race would not have been possible. Beside that he helped me to a lot of great moments and taught me so much, so that is why i have always had the Nordgren Racing colors in this game too :)
I am sure that anytime i would come ask for a bike, he would deliver just what i need and would do it at a very nice price just to help me. We need more people like him in racing, he didn't care about money, all that mattered for him was to see young people improve and learn from working with the team and competing on his bikes. He didn't care about wins or anything, as long as he could see progression and his team was happy. THAT IS A TRUE TEAM MANAGER! it surely helps riders feel comfortable and helps them be calm on track :)

not too much for knee , we have rubber ;) but the problem is the rider arms because turn is very hard
Hmm interesting I did not think of the arms (apart from the outfit passenger hehe). Strangely my wife always wanted to 'have a go' being the passenger on one of these :o

Awesome you rode actually at a world level!
I did check the results and you weren't even last in the q on that level. That's great as a wildcard.
Is the racing dream still alive or did you give up? I remember you telling you couldn't afford it anymore.

Had very difficult weekend, was actually within QP pace, but last 3min 3 riders changed to slicks on a very tricky conditions and improved laptimes by more than 2 sec (Webb and louis Rossi at least).
Had a new tailor made suit that was too tight in FP1 so changed to the old one to get my feeling back, had an all new bike with different setup but a VERY nice engine, never got 2 outings in same weather, wet in FP1, had a crash, a lot of rain in FP2, had a bad highsider out of turn 1 (video is on MotoGP.com) dry FP3 and then drying track with wet tyres in QP.
Well bad excuses, in fact i just never found the rhythm and wasn't fast enough to qualify as it was also first time on the track.
I learnt a lot and is quite sure i would have qualified for race if i had a full dry weekend, but who knows, those guys are crazy!!
And the british commentators mentioned me and said it was cool to see nordic rider and see how much i improved every single practice, so that is at least positive :)
Yeah money is the problem, but i want to get back as soon as i have the money, maybe just little testing next year, HOPEFULLY!!
Well as we discussed before as soon as I have finished raising the cash you will be back in there.
But maybe this is another marketing opportunity for PiBoSo to leap upon.......a game endorsement by an official Moto3 GP rider ?
Come on Mr P! Negotiate some terms! I might even waiver my agent fee. ;)
Haha sounds good mate!
Haha 125GP wildcard in Valencia 2011, last ever 125GP world championship race, 125GP and Moto3 European championship participant and Nordic champion 125GP 2011 and 125GP/Moto3 in 2012-2014. If that can help ;)
And more will come as soon as i am back (HOPEFULLY!)
And as i have said before, this is the closest i get to racing and it sure helps a lot being able to race here, when i can't race real life. Milestone games doesn't give me anything racewise, it is fun once in a while, but this gives me a bit of the same kick as real life racing :)
To be honest Meyer,
in that last post your words are absolute Gold-dust for a game like this.
And the modt important is, that it is true words :)
Is this game really comparable to real life on a track?? I have no idea I ride only on public road.
It is not comparable with a controller like that, but it is by far the game that comes closest and racing here, gives me a bit of the kick i also get from real racing. Not the feeling of riding a bike, but the nerves and the focus i need to compete in a 20lap race. For me it is more than judt a game, it is my racing right now when i can't afford real life racing :)
Just a little fun link Matty found, totally forgot about this :D
https://youtu.be/NTqQaXtWeLA
Just to show how serious i am ::)
Before Valencia wildcard i did at least 200+ laps in MotoGP 09/10 with a Honda 125GP to make sure i had the track in my head, also decided to do it on a playground bike as you see in the linked video haha
Thanks for the reminder Matty!

To be honest....No. :-[
Real life is much more thrilling and exhausting. 8)
But as Meyer said it is the closest Racing Motorcycle Simulator right now. ;D
You "get a feel" how real life racing will be.
And the good thing: No broken bones and bikes when crashing ;)

But hey! I would risk broken bones and bikes any day compared to sitting in front of a PC playing!

Ladies and Gentlemen, how to practice in the park! :P ;D
Haha glad you liked it :D made me want to have a go at Valencia :)
initially i have same idea rider no stress... all passenger move ..... no... wrong rider need force ( in f1 long side class ) we have a weel from a f3 cars without help to turn with a 20 cm handle bar, and for me ( my weight is 63 Kg ) is very hard after 2/3 turn .. for passenger if he make true movement in perfect timing is easy .... but need a lot of training with stopped side ( in my 1st race an old passenger from european hillclimb champion train me how to move ... i repeat for 3 hour the same movement )

Hawk.
a friend of mine bought a mille some weeks ago but the weather was too bad to take it out for a ride.
also there is a good report about a rsv mille in a german sportsbike magazine called FASTBIKE.
write me a PM if you want to have the report scanned as images, but its in german.
Thanks JJ, He got a whole load of paper work with the bike (every trackday the bike has done, setups and a load of reviews) :)

helmet is in the background of pic III and i live in lower saxony, the north of germany has a flat landscape :-\
oh yeah so it is.. ;D used Arai helmet's for a while, awesome customer service.. great quality but too expensive to replace each time i crash lol ;D started using HJC now.. i got the HJC RPHA-10 or whatever its called.. half the price, fit's perfect and is super light! really happy with it, Not so good for the road (bit noisy) but fine on the track.. i use ear plugs anyway..
got the same helmet, bob :D
really nice and light.
was the only one that properly fit on my head when i went to the store lol
still expensive IMO, though
Nice lid ain't it ;) yeah not ''cheap'' but nowhere near arai prices.. Great quality still, don't mind paying for a good helmet, important bit of kit ;)
Try KBC guys.
My head is tiny and it was always a problem finding helmets that fitted my head until i found the KBC.
A bit cheaper helmets but still great helmets! Have had big crash with it without any problems and it is prefect for racing in my opinion :)
I had the KBC VR-4R in Carbon.
Was also lucky to get sponsored by the danish importer and got a few of them for my racing :)

Well,gotta push this a little..
We used to do a test at a "demo run" at Oberlausitz last weekend. 2013 Daytona but with only 80 miles on the clock!! Shame she is a Cat C write off due to water damage, that isn't nor was ever there as it was in a flooded showroom with only enough water to touch the bottom of the fairing (there is a water mark in the belly) and all bikes (£80,000 worth) were assumed unridable. The previous owner didn't know what he had and must of spent around £500 on check on the bike and nothing was found, then his missus made him sell the bike as he never rode it :P
Yours matty?? Niiice that mate.. ;) 8) how much you give for it?
Defenetly mine
£5000 for a bike that if wasn't cat'ed would be £7-8000 worth

Very true! ;D

Hey guys !
As the title contains "road pics" and because I have not any pics of me during my trackdays sessions (I have no friends :'( ) I think I can show pictures of bikes.
So, Here is my first one, a 650 Bandit. I kept her for 6 years and sold it recently to friend of mine. It still runs good, 80 000 km and still making a big f**king noise that makes the head turns.
Here it is during a rest on my first road trip with friends a few years ago.
It has welcomed her little sister 2 years ago.
Now you understand my avatar, I hope ^^
I'm not a profesional photographer, as you can see, and I have almost no good pics of this beauty. Plus I sold it very quicly and didn't had the time to take nice pics :'(
Little bandit had a crash (because of a morron taxi driver) and had to be fixed. I healed her with love and attention :)
Almost done with repairs. It took me 1 month. I was not urged, as I had an other ride, and what took me the most time was the gauges wiring.
That's the last pic of her I have, the day I sold her to my friend
(http://i.imgur.com/MgnMLsG.jpg?2)
And the last pic I have of my beauty before I sold her. Because yes, I sold my 2 bikes...
... to buy a brand new one.
So, here is the SUV, during a road trip in october. If you want to see the album of this 4days road-trip...
http://imgur.com/a/fFTaB
Yes, this is not the kind of bike that makes you thrill but it's powerfull, full of electronics aids, very practical, comfortable and it cost nothing in insurance compared to a ducati.
Ho... I forgot, this one is kinda special because it doesn't run. I am making a cafra, based on a GL1100, but shhhhh, this is a secret project.

900 or the 700cc?
This is the 900 one. 126 hp 8) ;D
I sold my bikes because it was very expensive in insurance (and because GF left me and took her salary with her luggages). I don't know how it is in your respective countries but here for me, I used to paid 160€ per month for the Bandit and the Ducat'. With the tracer, I pay 65€ per month for a full insurance.
Also, I kept her only one year. My goal was to have this bike because it was for me the most beautiful naked bike on the market and it was my "dream bike" when it came out. Also, I made only 2 road trips with it and one trackday in a year. The rest of the time, it is a pain in the ass to ride in trafic jams and in city (I live near Paris). I had very good time with it but it was time to change.
I sold both my bikes in 2 days. I think this was a good operation and I sold it a good price before it get too much devaluated.
The tracer is like a SUV. Not very good in one particular domain but very multipurpose.
I did track with it and it's pretty good. The suspensions need to be tuned to the most stiffness possible, and it still react like a boat. The brake feeling is awesome, the power is good and the gearbox is so long that I only need 2nd and 3rd gear most of the time. (only pass the 4th in straight lines to get a 200-205 km/h).
But it is also very good to swallow kilometers of tarmac. During my last trips with my friends, I was cruising at 180 km/h... protected behind the wind-shield, grip-heating set to level 2, my ass well embeded in the comfort seat and the radar detector in front of me, plug in the 12v port ;D You can clearly ride all day long with it and it is not ridiculous when you need to go fast ^^
I have it since august this year and I already did 6800 km with it. So yes, that's a good bike and I could never ride that much with a ducati, for sure.
Woa... I wrote that much ?!!

I pay £760 a year for just my Daytona (the red one further up the thread) which would be around €75 a month.
Having a sporty bike is very nice but I know what you mean, I would like something that I could plod around on more often. Saying that, Touring on the Triumph is a breeze. It's very comfortable (6 hour day and I felt fine once we got off the bikes) Having done 1500 miles around Italy/Switzerland on my old Daytona, I'd happily take it again and the new one is even more comfortable.
Have fun and stay safe :D
Thanks Matty ! ride safe too ;)
I like the grey paint of your daytona !
Here is a little update of my project... Now I understand why the engine was blocked ^^

...but it's doing ok. I honest expected it to rev itself into oblivion by 50k miles or so but it got there, I fed it a fresh camchain and clutch and it's merrily howling away like it's got the same again in it. ???
Probably stick with similar colours.. although i do like black/white.. ??

Yeah good idea.. Iv'e got number boards on the front and side panels in the correct places where they need to be.. got some numbers left over so just stuck it on the tailpiece ;)
Not sure if i will get the whole bike sprayed yet because i am in all honesty.. prone to a crash or two ;D ;D il see how it goes at the beginning next year.. New bike for me so il need to get used to it. i have traction control with this so it will be interesting.... looking forward to it tho.

Brilliant mate! You will have to keep us posted on here.. Some great tracks, Huge respect for racing the roads dude. Good luck 8)
Your blade looks pretty trick.. What suspension are you running with?
thanks dude ... one of my best friends borrowed me the bike to start there. A dream came true to get on track with ol' Rutter and Gary Johnson :P
The fork is standard and redone by a guy from Gera Germany. He just changed the springs as far as i know. The rear shok is a Öhlins TTX36 ... Well, sadly the bike is gone now but were in buld of 2 S1000 RR :o
Ohhhhh Nice nice ;D ;) Get some Maxton suspension! Very good for the roads apparently. The bike i just bought has full maxton suspension.. GP30 forks and GP10 rear shock. was lucky to pick the bike up at a really good price with the bits on it. Anyway i sent everything to maxton to be refreshed and set up for short circuit, and for my weight etc.. Not only did they do a real nice job.. but they offer support throughout the year. The best part is, my mate is racing the roads next year on maxton suspension. final goal being the manx gp for the first time.. Maxton will be with him all year gathering feedback and offering advice so he gets the best out of it. When he gets to the manx he will have an engineer to work closely with him throughout the event! (free of charge).
Now that is customer service!! amazing. 8)
I don't know if you already have engineers and a proper team etc but it's well worth considering maxton. Can't fault them so far..
Nice bike BobR6!
I remember riding a 2008+ R6 once at Folembray back in 2010, it was a really good bike, more powerfull than my '03 you're going to like it.
I'm going to ride one more season with my 2003 R6 I think and IF I can find a used 2017 R6 for a "reasonable" price at the end of 2017 I'll try to buy one. I've had my R6 for too long now :P

thankyou mate im looking forward to riding it ;D end of february im off to oulton park for a trackday ;D ;D currently snowing here so feels light years away.. ::)
been on the 2001 R6 for a while doing the pre-injection stuff, will be nice to get out on this thing now! :P Not sure if i want to sell my old one yet :-\ id like to run both bikes with some clubs/tracks but not sure about costs yet. Especially fuel and tyres. yikes.. :o
A 2017 R6 will be awesome Edouard 8) No messing around slightly upgrading there mate lol ;D
It's a big upgrade for sure but honestly the 2017 is not that new compared to the previous model. The main changes are new suspension, new fairing, quick shifter and the electronics. The frame, swingarm and engine are basically the same.
I don't know if I'll get a 2017 or if I should get a 2012 one or something for a more reasonable price...
Spot of testing last weekend at Oulton park.. Open trackday. Who else has been out on the bikes recently?

Pain in the arse?? :o
You must be riding your bike backwards ;) ;D :P
Same here, bike everyday, ~50 km even when the roads are salty. There is a car wash at 5 minutes of my home. But it is not enough. The screws are getting white. :/
Same! :) ride to work all year round on the fireblade ;) not at the moment tho.. Im doing some van driving for a while, so i load it up and take it home etc.. Road riding has become tedious anyway. Too much traffic and yes the salt has ruined the poor bike >:(

After riding in Snowdonia last year, the roads on this side of the border seem dreadful in comparison, not to mention the number of speed cameras everywhere

QuoteWhat is the failure today ?? ;D
Surprisingly mine has been fine for 2 years now, well except when the chain snapped and punched a hole in the crankcase (although I can hardly blame Ducati for that). It's a daily as well with 32,000 miles on the clock.
QuoteLove the duc monster but what is that thing on the side of the bike?? ;D ;D
Yeah the stock exhaust is bulky, I'm planning on getting a slip on soon but have to get a power commander as well and the costs are adding up ;D
I know what u mean, to be honest all iv'e done to my road bike is put smaller indicators on it and tail tidied it.. stock exhaust isn't nice but i don't want to spend money on it. I had the 600 version before.. CBR600RR-05.. black and silver, Bought a yoshimura system for it, shit man it was nice, loved that bike :'( Can't be bothered with the blade.. i just get on it and ride the thing..
I thought about chopping the tail before. It's a common mod for that generation of the monster, but as I said above, it's a daily and being in UK, I would get covered in road muck instantly whenever it rains :D What year is your fireblade?
Yeah you would be covered lol ;D i got the 2006 blade, red n black, just got some new front wheel bearings for it they were mashed, had about 10mm play in all directions lol
Actually the right bearing was fine lol but better to replace both..

It was brilliant mate really enjoyed riding it. Completely different to my old bike lol. Spent a long time gradually upgrading my old r6.. Not a bad bike for the class but this newer r6 blows it away instantly.. The engine is stock but seems fast enough at the moment. Handling is awesome..... I need to get bike fit sharpish ;D
Oulton park was wet for most of the day.. Drying line appeared towards the end but i stayed on wet tyres.. Felt good in the wet, was pushing on, everything felt nice and predictable.. Cant wait for some good weather ;D
Really pleased i bought the thing.. How about you, did you buy the new R6?
my daily driver after "spring cleaning" and infront my garage. (150m beeline from apartment)
next on the list is a compressor... :)
she got a new chain an sprokets and also the tyres are also more or less new.
ill do the after winter oil change sometime in the three few weeks.
last saturday we were out for the first time in 2017 and rode cautious some twisties in more mountainous areas in the south of hanover.
weather forecast says up to 11°C ;)

Nah - It would be an unreasonable buy for me. I'm actually thinking of buying a used 2012-2016 R6 with low mileage... That would be a good upgrade while still being reasonable financially :) I'd throw brake lines, tyres, a sprocket and bodywork on it and I'm good to go.
Will probably do that at the end of this season. So one more year on my 2003 I guess!!! That was a good buy, can't complain. I don't want to do 2 more seasons on it though, I feel like our love story is almost over? It will hurt me to sell it, but maybe I can sell it to my brother and that way it stays close to daddy :P

I don't want to do 2 more seasons on it though, I feel like our love story is almost over? It will hurt me to sell it, but maybe I can sell it to my brother and that way it stays close to daddy :P
Not sold my old bike yet.. ;D didn't want to sell it but after riding the newer one im not too bothered about it anymore lol. il try to keep it though.. not sure if id sell it as it is or break it yet anyway :P

haha ^^, no, it's old noname jeans that has been recycled into rags :)
soooo ...
we went testing last weekend at the Lausitzring and i was able to put in ~90 laps on my new built BMW s1000RR. No issues with the electronics (expect engine brake but we figured it out) from the beginning on so we were able to work on the suspension really quick. Im amazed, the bike turns so well, the whole feeling is just impressive ... We will do one more test at Brno 21st. April (hopefully) ... its the first round of the Czech Championship and i would be able to face some of my new IRRC oponents :P ... fingers crossed :o 8)

I race as a hobby too! Well.. More than a hobby, it takes over my life, it is my life lol. Everything evolves around getting ready for the next race meeting, season, trackday.. Getting the bike ready, equipment, transport, money. Etc etc etc.. Haaard without sponsors but i dont chase them. No pressure, i just race when i want/can ;)

Was in Hockenheim with my new bike last year, 2 turns only. But already had some serious brake fading. I like to think the ABS holds me back a lot. Anyway bone stock, just taped the lights and dismounted the licence plate.
It still did some impressive lap times though. I just Love her ;D

Thanks ;D
I could propably write a book about her, she is just that awesome :D
But what stands out the most is that the power delivery is very gentle, you almost don't feel the 200hp. In terms of raw feeling even the R6 felt more powerful.
And to make the bike even more ridiculous it actually handles better than my old R6.
Someone told me that back in 2015 I only laughed because I thought he was exaggerating.
But the new R1 actually is more agile than my old R6.
The performance itself is very good, but it is while being very easy to ride.
There hardly is anything not to love on this bike ;D

I wish I had the money for a second bike (just yet). I am also pretty in love with the R1. Did you have a chance to ride the 2017 Fireblade and do you know how it compares to the R1? The new Fireblade is also said to have a handling like a 600.
The new blade is tiny!! :o ;D ;D

Still Ugly :-X
The only recent hypersport bikes I tested is the 2017 ZX-10R.
I tested it on road only, I didn't liked the Kawa. It's too smooth, too much filtered. Yes, it is very powerfull. You can feel the rear tyre strugglling, looking for grip. It is a real torture for the tyre. And the chassis and swing arm are amazing. You feel like you are holding the whell axe in your hand and get a very good feedback !
And it is very confortable for a sport bike (as long as you are less than 1.80m). My elbows were touching my knees and I couldn't see anything in the mirrors because my elbows were touvhing the tank. It is efficient, comfortable, very easy to ride (easier than a R1 crossplane '10, that is already a very easy bike) but maaaaan !! It's so boooooring.
Nothing gave me such a pleasure than the MV f3 so far. The 1098 SBK is a monster, a real beast. But it's too much ! The F3 is for me a very good compromise. I didn't had the opportunity to test the R1M, but from what I have heard, I may find it tiny tiny.
I think I could have more fun on a MT-10 SP.
For what my opinion count :P
Ugly?? Still?? :'( :'( :'( wait till i tell her :o :P
<In my humble opinion>, the 2K5 - 2K7 was a pure master piece. And I'm not the only one in my country.
Even today, a good looking 2K5 cannot be found under 7 000€. A 2009-2010 can be found at 5 000€
It's one of most sexy and good looking bike ever made !
Since the 2008, they only made ugly bikes IMO.
The hornet was cool before 2006 then it became ugly AF
The fireblade became ugly,
The CBF has always been ugly, lol
The classic and simple CB 500 became ugly
The VRF became fat and... ugly
The nice and sexy ass of the 1300 super four disapeared in 2007
WTF Honda !!
The only bike that is more beautifull now than before is the 'Fricatwin. And the CBF125 is still the same ^^
</In my humble opinion>
But... I don't have any frief against Honda. I own myself an old bath tube with wheels with wings on the fairings ^^ She's older than me btw
And, I would like to test the new fireblade, just for the curiosty

Nah sry, and I propably won't test ride it. I don't want to spoil my love for the R1 ;D
But I do share tchemi's sentiment that the CBR is still ugly :P
I honestly don't think those liter bikes are that far apart when it comes to performance. So you should atleast test ride any bike you are willing
to consider buying. ;)
If you are only riding on the street anyway I would recommend a supermoto.
They are really awesome while being kinda less dangerous, cheaper and well maybe easier to ride.
There apparently are some lunatics that use their R1 to the fullest potential on public roads, but
if you don't those sport bikes are just expensive....and of course good looking. ;D

What I usually do is go to open days in different stores (this is the good season by the way). Sometimes they ask you to pay a garantee, sometimes not, sometimes you are in a big group with newbies and you can't really try the bike, sometimes you can be alone or in group of burned head. It vary a lot. Any way, it is allways a good way to test and compare bikes

2 years ago I would have totally disagree with you. But yes, since the R1M, the new ninja, and now in 2017 the new fireblade and GSXR, they may be quite equivalent.
2 or 3 years ago, BMWs and Ducati's were in an other century compared to old crossplane and gex.

Man ! In my country, you have choice between Husqvarna 701, KTM SMR or Ducati Hypermotard. These bikes aren't cheap nor easy to ride ^^
Hoooo, of course you can look for an old DR 400 SM, but it's old, and very few available.

I will, the team is setting up a bike with nice Öhlins suspensopn, good brakes (probably brembo), almost standard Honda NSF250R engine but with new ECU that is a bit better ;)
Not as kitted as the other riders, but that just means i need to show more talent and catch up on braking and in the corners ;)

Is your new Moto3 bike faster than your old 125? Does it turn better?
Quote from: Boerenlater on August 01, 2017, 03:37:22 PM
Is your new Moto3 bike faster than your old 125? Does it turn better?
I raced 125GP in 2009-2011, then moto3 in 2012-2013.
But the moto3 i will race now this year is a bit faster than the Moto3 i raced in 2013 yes. It has a few better engine parts, a better ECU and it have a slightly modified frame that makes the rear a tad taller. beside that suspension is the newer moto3 öhlins but almost same as i had on both the old moto3 and 125GP and brakes are more or less the same :)
So yeah all in all it should be a bit faster and i should be able to do new PB laptimes now ;) but 3 years off the bike, there is some rust to knock off before i can go fast :D
And the Moto3 have a different handling as it is 4 stroke and a bit heavier than a 125GP, you have a bit of engine braking helping stopping the bike and keeping the line. but they are turning about equally good.
Nice Pic mate
Some cracking shots/vids guys, kept me well entertained browsing through this morning! Great to see we have our own "proper" racer as well in Meyer, looking good buddy i'll deffo keep my eyes peeled for your name in the future 8)
I've been wobbling around tracks for a few years now on my trusty 05 R6 (I notice GPB still needs one developing btw ;) ) I tried my hand at a couple of club rookie races in 2013 but then a career change meant I only just managed to keep my bike let alone race her...but now things are becoming a little more stable and i'm getting in a few more trackdays this year, I'm hoping to complete a full rookie season next year...I won't be competetive like some of the guys here, but it's an addiction that needs fuelling, even if I'm stone dead last!

Lowside or the peg touched the floor, can't quite tell.
And it looks a lot worse than it actually is. Mainly fairing and exhaust damage. Zero damage to frame, tank, engine or tail unit etc
Walked away and rode the bike home so not all bad ::)
By the way, Joeski, I can't see any of your pictures, photobucket isn't displaying them...
A pal had the same quite a while ago: he transformed his daytona into a naked, probably well before naked bikes were en vogue :)
Damned Matty !!
Hopefully you are OK. I know, everybody says this and this can feel stupid, but sincerly, glad to know that you are OK ! I know what it is to hug the tarmac, and I think we are a lot here.
Be strong, the biggest injury might only be the self estime.
Thanks guys :D
This was done on a track by the way. I slid no more than 15 meters and most of that was into a gravel trap with the bike on top of me (Keeping it off of the floor saved most of the bike damage).
Considering an an incident that happened on the same corner with the same fall and on another daytona the year previous, the whole right hand side of his bike was trashed inculding a knock in the tank which meant a new one was needed. I got away very lightly! :o
Only the second session of the day as well but i did get out later in the day ;D
To level out the playing field, force Meyer and co. to use the CBR250 with 5 liters of fuel.

Yes, should have been posted in the 250cc race thread.

I'm intrigued! It's not popcorn in the can is it? ;D
Oh nice, i've heard a few things about that place, I guess it isn't too far from the ferry then?

It's not to far from the ferry, 2 hours or so. But we make the weekend of it so we go down on the friday morning and have a couple days riding. Track day on the Sunday, then home monday :)
As for the exhaust. I may post pictures of progress if it comes. Else a new exhaust if it comes to that :P
Hey, I also go in the north of France for riding. I suggest you to go to the track "Le circuit des écuyers". One of the best track for motorcycles here, very technical !

So today i got to Falkenberg where i will have my comeback :)

I don't actually know who crashed. The first sector was still a bit wet so we was taking it slow there.
Nope, i am with # 27 this weekend as my number was taken
kk ill watch the correct nymber next time ;D
Hmmm ... I see no number 27 in 125/Moto3 training 1 results.
On the other hand I see 3 ladies (over a total of 8 participants).
Am I drunk ? (which is possible as I'm currently in Romania) :)
I didn't have the transponder mounted for Practice 1, in 2 i had :)
Nope, we are 12-13 riders but not everyone have transponder on today. And no, not blind, there is 3 girls racing this class this year.
Last practice of the day will be at 15.10 cet.

I sure can. It was wet in most of sector one so i took it quite easily. In full dry we should be able to do 48s instead of 51s
First day over. Getting back up to speed, little work to do this evening.
Finished p4 overall just 0,5sec off of the fastest guys.
A bit to improve for tomorrow but overall quite satisfied with the day :)
Well done mate! Awesome work 8)
Well done Meyer! ;D 8)

We had a little check up on the bike and then we will change suspension a bit :)
We need the Falkenberg track here in GPB so we can see how we compare ;D
Well done Meyer , go for it m8 ! thats a very good start ! :)
Schedule for the day is:
QP 9.55-10.20 cet
Race around 14.00 cet. 24 laps
Wet now but drying up so QP will probably be either full dry or few wet spots :)

Ashamedly I'm about as well up on my Swedish as I am with any other foreign language.... Nada... nothing.... Zilch. Lol! :-[ ;D
@Meyer: How did the changes to the bike go? Better or worse than yesterday? You looked to be doing about the same times in the first run? Not sure of your end placing on that first run as I was looking into some modding work on Maya at the same time and missed the end result. :-[ :)
I'll be watching the race and routing for you mate! ;) 8)
Hawk.
Good luck Meyer!
Was a pretty good qualifying today! P4 0,250 off of pole and 0,150 off of 2nd. Exact same time as p3 but he had a better 2nd best lap :)
The changes worked very well, i felt much better on the bike and was out on worn tyres from yesterday, so rear was getting little loose in the end, but still managed to improve by 0,8 from yesterdy :)
Few minor tweaks to rear suspension and we are ready for race with new tyres :) still 0,9s off of my PB from 2012, so i know it is possible to keep up with the frontrunners for the race if i can get away with them :)
Sector 1 is my issue at the moment, but it's getting better for every lap
Good luck man, you have to keep the GP Bikes flag up ;D
Did #1:William Svärd (leader at the time) fall off? They've red flagged the race so I presume so? He looked to be pushing really hard at the time pulling out a big lead over the first 3 laps before he presumably crashed out?
Our Meyer was in a good second place at the time too! ;D 8)
Hawk.
Brilliant! Well done Meyer! Lapped 2 Guys as well!

Well done indeed Meyer, proud of you mate! GREAT JOB! ;D ;D 8)

Yeah William Svärd crashed in a pretty fast place and landed in the wall. He didn't move and he have been taking to hospital for check up and he had some trouble breathing. Haven't heard from him or the guy with him since, so hopefully he will be fine.
And thanks a lot guys!!! Was a wonderful comeback! Didn't have to push too hard and felt really comfortable back on the bike. Still 1 sec off my own PB from 2012 (47,6s) so a bit more to come if needed ;)
Edit: William Svärd, Daniel Persson and Daniel Plakidis is also from same team.
Daniel is leading championship but had a half-seize of his engine and crashed because it locked the rear (2-stroke).
Well all the best to the poor lad lets hope nothing too serious.
I am extremely happy for your win Meyer dood i have been grinning all day!
Is there a Race 2 to come?
Edit: ah yes same schedule for tomorrow good luck!
Very nice Meyer! :)
gogogo m8 !!
Awesome Meyer, nice work mate!!
Short info, more will come after work.
Race got cancelled at sunday due to Heavy rain and oil on the track and BIG crash in 600cc before we had to go out.
So to sum up the weekend in.
Friday: good day with 3 practices of 20min to get back into riding.
Saturday: qualified 4th, pretty happy, felt like i had a little more pace but was on quite old tyres and race was just perfect after the restart and i won doing steady, but not quick, wasn't pushing at all since it was low paced race from the rest.
Sunday: Qualifying was with wet tyres on drying track, had it been world championship i would have went out on slicks, was not going strategic as i thought it would be more worth it getting more fast laps in than saving tyres and slam in a few good laps at the end. Qualified 4th.
No race sunday due to the big crash and oil on track.
Good job Meyer :)
Hope the best for future racing m8, and some luck with sponsors , every rider needs money!
During the time you were forced to abstain from racing, how much of a help was GP Bikes in preserving your skills?

Actually not too much of a help in the riding. You of course keep lines fresh, but beside that, it is two very different things. Using a controller can't really keep the way you have to use your body and the "braveness" to brake late and open throttle early in the body.
The thing GPB have helped me with it keeping a few of the abstinences at bay, but beside that nothing can compare to actually riding the bike :)

Just to add to this...I imagine car simulators are quite effective for training/learning as the driver is in a fixed position and you just need to replicate the moving parts - steering wheel, pedals, shifter etc in order to recreate a relatively realistic experience. With a motorbike sim you can replicate the same controls, however like Meyer says, a massive factor in controlling a motorbike is how you move around on the bike, and how far your brain will allow you to push to the limits...so other things come into play such as rider fitness/size/limberness etc.
I think the only place where GPB will help in that respect is learning a new track and which way to leave the pits lol
I was down at Donington the other day for a cheeky trackday...not the best of days as my oil filter blew off causing me to miss half the sessions replacing tyres and generally sorting the bike out to run again, so by the time I got back out on track it was the end of the day. Pretty gutted as i'd been looking forward to working on suspension settings as well as sorting out some body positioning, but none of that happened due to missed tracktime but hey ho that's one of the joy of bikes, right? Shaved a couple of seconds off my best from 2012 but I was really hoping to be down in the low 40's before the day started. Anyway, thought you might like to see one of my half decent laps in the last session, there's plenty of places to pick up time so I'm twitching to get back there!

The course I did was £310, that, and that included 3x20min sessions with a 2 rider - 1 Instructor thing. Day was awesome, super friendly / helpful staff
For me, a complete novice it was worth it, I mean, I've only got about a day and a half total seat time on any bike at most, and I ended up getting a knee down. Not a big deal really, but it was still satisfying
Depends on what youre looking for really, although it caters for all rider experiences. Celebs like Michael Fassbender, a James MacAvoy and F1dude Mark Webber have had a bash, so it can't be that bad. And you get to go round the full GP Donnington track so that's also a bonus.
I'll be going back again at some point if that says anything. :)

Only just seen this :P
Nice. Little bit pricy but then you are paying for the instruction more than anything.
You do get everything mind you, like you need literally no kit, as they let you rent everything for the price. Full insurance as well, but I'm deffo going again at some point 👍
